Hi there i hope someone can help me im from the UK ( unsure if this forum is american or for any country)

I have 3 vintage clubs wood handles, the ends are rusty but thinkign someone could remove that etc

Wiped them over and can not still tell what brand they are, they say the usual for vintage clubs hand forged and made in Scotland etc as well as one having a diamon symbol and one having a small hand carved

I know nothing about golf so these could be to say what type of club they are 😂

Some of the writing i tried guessing what it says but must be wrong as can not find anything online here are images

UPDATE....as i was writing the above i worked out the one as D.C Cobb greenock. Does anyone know how much it would be worth in the state it is at all?

The other one all i can see is Special...nothing else

And the 3rd has more writing but it seems to maybe a different make but i definitely can not make it out as writing on right side the stamped name seems double stamped over itself

Hi, three nice clubs you have there, briefly:

- The Greenock club was made for a lady as indicated by the letter "L" stamped on the head. D.C Cobb would have been the professional at Greenock Golf Club and he would have finished and sold the club. The head was most likely made by James Winton and Co of Montrose.

- The club head marked Special was made by Tom Stewart of St Andrews, the mark under Special is a pipe and was the mark used by Stewarts, in the same way that the hand mark was used by Nicolls. As it doesn't say "Trade Mark" beneath the pipe it most likely dates to 1905 at the latest.

- The club with the hand on was manufactured by George Nicoll of Leven, it's an ABLE Putter. The Able series were available in the early 1910s and possibly after. The unusual feature of this range is the weighting towards the toe of the club.

Of the three the Able Putter would be the rarest but as to a value I couldn't guess as I don't know exactly how rare it is. The other two might fetch £20 to £30 each in current condition.
There are also collectors of Tom Stewart irons who was one of the better makers.

I wouldn't try and clean them up any more than you have done and don't replace the grips either if you're thinking of selling them.

Thats great help and amazed at how much information you know about them more so the one where not much visible, is it a smokers pipe on the one with not much visible.....or am i embarrassing myself

I did seem to think it odd to have a line at the bottom as I couldn't make much else out

You're correct, it's a smokers pipe, here's a picture of a later club which includes the trade mark wording, full wording "T.S. ST.A. Reg Trade Mark" which stands for Tom Stewart St Andrews, Registered Trade Mark.
The trade mark was registered in 1905.

(The Diamond stamp on the D.C. Cobb club is the mark of James Winton & Co.)
