Most nervous tee shot?

playing with smiffy, bratty, Pmwoking at westerham last year. was effectively my first time with any forumers, and i was shockingly Sh*te for 4 holes. nerves killed me but come good on the 5th.... or better anyway.

Must have been teeing off at Sawgrass many years ago with all the course guides watching to see if you are good enough to play there.

Then the 17th was quite nevy with all that water!!

After the last few days on here, I have a feeling that my new most nervous tee shot maybe at Beau Desert in May. :( :D

The 1st @ Beau is easy Aztec. Just don't think about the 30foot gorse valley right in front of the tee.....or the trees right.......or the bunker right.......and the ground sloping left to right......did I mention the trees right??!!

No problems as you don't hit a fade.....oops!! :o

:D :D :D :D :D

I dont play in big comps,so it was definately my first forum meet at Ascot, quite a few had teed off before our group and i dont think anyone hit the green.I got onto the tee shaking,my legs were like jelly, didnt have a clue if i was lined up properly, bang straight onto the green, pure luck.Went on to win with 40 points.

Er...I mean...I've just been told by the boss, I can't have that day off now. :D

*note to self; learn to hit a draw with your driver before May 24th*

Had the fortune when much younger to play in an Open qualifier managed to squirt a thinned 3 iron about 190 into light rough, was just happy it had gone forward lol, worryingly it was one of the better tee shots I hit all day

Don't need to, the fairway is quite wide and you'll still only have a mid iron if you knob it 150yds, as long as you make the carry to the fairway.

It's like a par 3 with a pond in front of the tee. It's not really a hazard but it can get in your head if you let it.

I lost my ball on the 1st last year!

Where you don't want your fade is all the holes that come out of a chute of trees and dogleg left :D

Mine was a few years ago now, I was playing Carnoustie Championship with my old boss, I was about to tee off and a ball came flying over in my direction, I got the heads up from my boss and moved just in time for it to miss me.

I composed myself and just as I went back to address these 3 american dudes appeared and apologised, I gave them the offer to play first but was told "This is your course in your country sir, play away" my boss then greeted that with, "you better nail this now!"

Thank god I already had a 3 wood in my hand as I'd never have hit a driver under that pressure, I nailed it down the middle, a few drams were awaiting us back at the bar too...

I'm always nervous on the first tee, but the setting seems to make no difference.

I felt the same in the Trilby Tour as I do in a medal at our club.

Would be about 17 years ago, I only used to play about 6 times a year then, and the day before the company I was working for were having a big Corporate golf meeting at Kingswood (Surrey) I get a phone call and asked if i would like to come down for the day and represent my actual section. Yeah great I say and turn up about 2 hours early, as Kingswood is only about 5 miles from where I live. I only know 2 people there from about 80 people and one of them isn't even playing.

It the hottest day of the year and get to play with the top two people from Rank Film Distributors, who just had out a small film called ''Four Weddings and a Funeral'' we are first out and we have photographs on the 1st tee, and then we hear the starter calling out our names, I dont think I have ever been so nervous.

Luckily I only slighty pull my drive and i remember one of my partners making a real cock up, topping his ball only about 20 yards down the fairway.

As it happens they were both great company, and we went on to win the team competition, and I remember being told that we could remove our jackets at the evening meal because the weather was so hot, silly thing to remember i know but it sticks in the mind.

Another one to look forward to (or not) is that my pairs partner and me have won our foursomes competition to represent our club in the Daily Mail Foursomes. Got a bye in the first round, but dont suppose i will be to calm when we eventually get to play our second round.

Mine would have to be the first royal ascot meet a coupke of years ago, I hadnt been playing very long so was just nervous playing eith strangers, plus mike and the GM guys were there and there was a photographer snapping away too!!
Its a long par 3 and I can remember borrowing a mates 5wd just for that shot as I had been going over it in my head for days beforehand!
Daft really but I was sh#@#ing myself!!! :p

Goswick, Scotland v England the first time we played. First off.

19 other forumers watching. Everything was shaking. Nearly missed the ball altogether. Topped it just past the ladies tee! Not happy and even got a consoling arm round the shoulder from Tommo. He knew I was better than that!

Took me 18 months to redeem myself.

The 1st tee at the Old Course had been a breeze. Bit of adrenaline, yes, but at least I struck it alright, albeit into the burn. Bloody caddies!

A long time ago, I won a place on a Travel Industry team to go out to Malaysia to play in a World Travel Team Comp, which was basically a hoot & piss-up for anyone in the industry :D ;)

However, it was still a Comp, and here were some good players in the teams, and me off about 18 I think, .......stood on the 1st tee shaking like a leaf, and with an 'iron for safety' in my hand.

Cue a horrendous thin, which hit the ladies tee at a hell of a rate, and rebounded about 60yds behind me !!

I wished the ground could have opened and swallowed me up at that point, but miliseconds later, the team of Singaporeans we were playing, and all their mates stood nearby too, erupted into fits of laughter, which pleased me no end !!

Again, mili-seconds later, I too found the funny side, and proceeded to hack it back into play, and carry on leaving them all still chuckling.
Barstewards !!

After that debacle, I can cope with most things these days !

The ones I played on Wednesday after JustOne - unbelievable pressure!! :D :D :D

1st at Merrick Park, Bournemoouth when I hadn't been playing golf too long and had a tendancy to top my shots. If anyone knows the hole, a top is probably the worst shot you can do there as it's only a par 3 but you need to go over a gorge/valley/dip and it's quite a way down.

I know it well and have done just that, a nice little iron to the bottom of the dip :o :o

Not really had one yet, although I imagine mine will be at the North Kent meet in April. Will be my first forum meet and first time playing with people I don't know.

Could be interesting.

Funnily enough, you have been drawn to tee off in the first group out.

Enjoy

:D :D

Definitely the first at the Old Course. Luckily got a reasonable one away (not like the 1 handicapper I was playing with who nearly snap hooked oob. :D Still remind him of it to this day whenever I see him.
