Hi all,

This month, we want to know how much you've been prepared to dish out for a round of golf. As always, any good stories, tales, anecdotes etc are welcomed!

Many thanks,

Nick

Most I have paid is £30 for a pay & play course, however for the same time, same day I can get a round for £15 at a members club open to public after midday.

Much nicer course in terms of layout, difficulty and condition for half the price. And at a preferred time for me personally.

Got a good deal to play Gleneagles at the start of October for half price. All the stands still up and the atmosphere was good. Was at St Andrews at the weekend and now toying with the £170 price tag to get a game there!

I don't often pay green fee's but 4 of us go to Muirfield on the SGU Times and that was £75 i think, well worth it though. I do get a chance to play there for free a couple of times a year with a member but that's always afternoon which is fourballs only.

will be paying full whack when i go to Royal Portrush and RCD next year, thats about £170 each course

£10 - only time I've paid anything for a casual round - or £25 as my half of £50 foursomes open competition entry fee. I'm afraid I struggle to justify to myself and my OH paying £40+ to play a round of golf when my subs are as they are. I'd pay £30 but with my Surrey County Card I have plenty of choice for less that that - and through club we have plenty of free reciprocals and reduced rate arrangements with other local clubs that are about £25 a head.

Equivalent to about £52 a few times this year for the Els designed Anahita course but a buggy is inclusive

As a nomad golfer I try to keep the green fees sub-£20 which opens up a good range of municipal and members clubs on TeeOffTimes. I paid £16 and had a great time at Bradley Park Golf Club near Huddersfield recently, cracking course for the price.

So far this year, I've paid £200 for my father in law and I to play The Montgomerie in Dubai and £60 to play Santa Clara in Spain, both of which are lovely courses.

I paid £88 to play Black Sea Rama golf course in Bulgaria, when attending a wedding. I paid up at the pro shop, then went to hit a few balls on the range, in glorious sunshine. Feeling good, a little warm and ready for 18 holes on a lovely-looking links style course, with wild flowers, manageable rough and some nice looking greens, I headed for the first tee. And then heard massive rumbles of thunder, followed by the klaxon! It had been 30° and sunny for the the days previously in Bulgaria, but the time I'm about to tee off, it turns biblical!
I managed to get a rain check til the next day, and glad I did. Fabulous course and will certainly be trying to go back at some point.

£100 for Royal County Down, and £80 for Portrush.

Both worth every penny. I would rather pay more to play a decent course than pay the same money to play three average courses. I can still remember every shot at both courses, and I felt I was not just paying for the quality golf courses, but also the facilities, the stunning views and the total experience.

Ive just paid £80 for Royal Porthcawl, normally I would never pay that but its a one off with some good friends.

£90 per head (approx half price) to play The Kings at Gleneagles on our annual 'Scottish trip' last week. Cracking deal for a fourball. Best deal was the St Andrews 3 day pass at £200 for three days unlimited golf on 6 of their 7 courses.

Castle Course was £125.

Loved it, one of the most stunning places to play golf anywhere with the views down over St Andrews.

It was £50 at course number 2 at Gullane GC. Normally I would stay close to £20 as I'm a PhD student but as it was my birthday I thought I would treat myself. And a treat it was! Gullane #2 was in fantastic condition, the course was very enjoyable to play and some great views. Added bonus was I played some of my best golf. I do love links golf.
