Just played my home club Knebworth and Brocket Hall in the UK and Villa Sol in Portugal when I was there this year.

I keep meaning to go play somewhere else but decide against it and go play Knebworth instead as it's a nice place to play and doesn't get that busy.

I've been put off as pretty much every course I tried to play last year was slow as hell, seemed every day I had off there was a society on the course I decided to play, and I just can't be bothered to pay a green fee and trudge round at a snails pace. A couple of courses I walked off after 9 holes because it was so slow.

Apart from my home course (Schmitzhof) and my former home course (Bad Bevensen), both in Germany, I played

Staining Lodge
St. Anne's Old Links
Lytham Green Drive

Lytham Green Drive was by far my favorite. Beautiful old parkland course. They have a very affordable and generous twilight greenfee rate, so I played it three times in one week. Very friendly club as well, I felt very welcome there.

I also loved playing the St. Anne's Minilinks, an 18-hole pitch+putt course located right on the sea shore. It is a lovely way to pass the time when you cannot get in a full round of golf.

I keep track of all courses I've played and I've just totted up those in 2015 and I'm fortunate enough to have racked up 32 different courses. Rather pleased with myself.

I've played some cracking courses among them too. Overall best has to be Valderrama though. Atmospheric, special, beautiful course and surroundings.

Hi all,

Hope everyone is well. This month, we want to know how many different courses you've played in 2015. Any particularly good ones? Any particularly bad ones for that matter? Any particularly good value? Let us know below.

Many thanks,

Nick

Surprised myself by clocking up about 20. Being in 2 societies and playing BB Opens hasn't hurt to be fair.
Moortown was really good, but yesterday added Royal Liverpool which was an absolute bonus for the year!

Ten for me this year.
The highlight for me was playing Belleisle in Ayr. The course was in superb condition for the end of October and with just having had the greens tined. Ridiculously good value at £36 for myself and my daughter to play during half term. Shot 6 over gross and lipped out from a hole in one. Can't wait to play it again next time we are up and I hope it will be in the summer.

Good to see that 30% of the forum have played more than 15 courses this year, what a well travelled bunch we are :D

Ive managed 15 courses so far this year, 6 have been a new experience.
The highlight so far was a game at Carnoustie for a combination of golf, course and company.
Can't actually think of an away day that I haven't really enjoyed this year although I've had a couple of stinkers on my home course.
We have a 4ball at Muirfield next month which I hope will top the previous games.

Best by a country mile was Royal Dornoch. Nothing in the Highlands even comes close, not on the same page as Royal Dornoch. Condition of the course and the layout was outstanding. Greens were like glass.

Also have to mention Tain which was in better condition than a few of the more famous courses in the area. Really enjoyed Tain and the welcome was brilliant.

Boat of Garten was brilliant as always and Fortrose was decent despite 30 mph winds and about 10 balls lost!

Royal Dornoch
Tain
Gleneagles Queens
Royal Musselburgh
Auchterarder
Bothwell Castle

Best value had to be Tain.
Best greens Dornoch,
Best course (as if you hadn't guessed) Royal Dornoch!

Thirteen for me so far:
Elland (home course)
Crow Nest Park
Bradley Park
The Cheshire (Carden Park)
The Nicklaus (Carden Park)
Huddersfield Fixby
Woodsome Hall
Longley Park
Ryburn
Castlefields
Crosland Heath
The Lakes (Belton Woods)
Woodside (Belton Woods).

I enjoyed playing all of them for different reasons.

In terms of condition, I found both Carden Park courses were OK, but tees left a lot to be desired, although to be fair to them I did play the courses in mid-April so they may have improved since.

As for value, I was fortunate to play Fixby and Woodsome Hall in club comps, so didn't pay a green fee. Both are nice enough courses, but if I'm being honest I don't feel either is good enough to warrant the high green and membership fees they charge. I certainly don't agree with either clubs view that they are the best courses in Huddersfield either.

It's pretty certain (weather permitting) that I'll add at least one more to this list during the Christmas holidays :)

Apart from the home course being played from many different angles and positions probably making it new on a quite a few occasions 9 were racked up. 2 local, 4 Portugal and 3 in the west country/ Wales.

Trefloyne, Penally, Pembrokeshire
Milford Haven, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire
Oceanico Laguna, Algarve, Portugal
Oceanico Old Course, Algarve, Portugal
Oceanico Pinhal, Algarve, Portugal
Oceanico Victoria, Algarve, Portugal
Newport GC Newport, Wales
Mendip Springs, Somerset x 2
Weston Super Mare Somerset

Most notable were Mendip Springs as played twice, once in a society and then returned with the good lady and the Old Course.

Only two new courses this year (Amendoeira in Portugal) but have played 13 different courses this year:

Leighton Buzzard (Home course)
Woburn Dukes
Woburn Marquess
The Drift
Sunningdale Old
Sunningdale New
Market Harborough
Hardelot - Les Pins
Hardelot - Les Dunes
The Oxfordshire
Amendoeira - Faldo
Amendoeira - O'Connor
Windmill Hill

All have been enjoyable, although Sunningdale always sits at the top of my favourites. Amendoeira was a good trip too.

New ones for me.
Aston Wood B-Ham
Wergs W-Ton
Penn W-ton
Swindon Nr W-ton
Enjoyed them all.

How are Wergs and Swindon these days? Played them a few times when my parents lived in Wolverhampton and enjoyed them both. Found Swindon to be a very difficult course though!

Enjoyed the meandering nature of Wergs but could never get the tee shot right on the hole with the dual fairway!
