Hi all,

Hope everyone is well. This month, we want to know how many different courses you've played in 2015. Any particularly good ones? Any particularly bad ones for that matter? Any particularly good value? Let us know below.

Many thanks,

Nick

Highlight for me was Bamburgh Castle, lovely course, not too long but some lovely challenging holes with views to die for over the beach and sea. A few blind shots and pleasingly quirky at times (starts with two par 3s), but to me that added to the experience. Go play it if you are in the area.

Best course this year was Dunstanbrough Castle in Embleton. Beautiful place to play, great greens and fairways plus a castle. What more could you ask for.

A few days in Portugal started the year nicely, with the Old course at Vilamoura being the highlight.
The two course we played over the HFH days were very enjoyable, particularly Camberley Heath (the greens were less affected by tinning and it was drier than at West Hill).
My own course, Kedleston Park, was In great nick this season and the changes to bunkering, which will be completed this winter, are making it an even better test.
An honourable mention goes to Drayton Park GC, near Tamworth. We play a client's golf day their each year. It's a nice little course (Braid design I think), with a variety of holes and always nice to go to, plus good grub & company.

Staining Lodge near Blackpool was a real surprise for me. Very good value indeed, and very welcoming (both in terms of people and course difficulty) for a high handicapped hacker. Greens were really quick too on 80% of the holes making for a very interesting putting challenge.
Back 9 need more time to mature and maybe need a few more hazards adding to make them as interesting as the front, but for a developing course it's very good IMO.

15 new courses for me this year.

Worst: Pryford Park in Surrey. Goose poo everywhere and short.

Highlights: All my overseas golf this year!!

Mijas Course Dubai, Al Hamra course is UAE. Costa Navarino Greece, Dunes course, Powerscourt Dublin (both courses), Reflection Bay, Prim Valley & Paiute Resort (Wolf & Mountain).

Biggest surprise: Lydd. Going back to pay it after many years slating it to find it enjoyable and with great greens and overall good condition!

Biggest let down: Brocket Hall. For overall experience. We played it the day after the news broke about it going bust and the service was shocking.

Most of my UK golf has been on course that I've played before but looking forward to the RAC Club in November.

Only 6 this year ( IIRC )
Least I've ever played in a calendar year

Best......Goswick
Best greens......Newbiggin, cracking course too
Best value......Ryton, only paid £5 with a voucher ( £20 4-ball ) bought at charity auction, nice little course, bit crowded ( holes ) in places, but good greens and always good condition.

Really, really, really, must get out more next year.......

Played 21 different courses this year, best Parkstone+ Hankley Common for course layout and greens, also played 2 hilly courses Bramley + Temple dont think I will rush back although the grees were both good. The best value Royal Agadir Golf Club, only a 9 hole course but with interesting layout and only £25 for 18 hole inc a caddy!

7 or 8 this year but nothing different from 2014

Top experience, I've mentioned on another thread, was playing Heritage a week after the Euro Tour used it, excellent greens and really fine sand in the bunkers. Probably the only time i've been pleased to land in a bunker so that I had the pleasure of playing out of it!

Think the count is about 14 this year:

Best Course Played, Gullane #1 about a month before the Scottish Open, glorious place.
Best Value Course Played, Silloth On Sollway. Visited this wonderful track for several years on the trot (going back again next year). Pound for pound it is simply the best value golf I've played anywhere. £49 for a full day, play as many holes as you can.

12 for me

Tyrrell's Wood - home course
Pins - Le Touquet
Dunes - Le Touquet
St Omer
La Manga South
Leatherhead
ESN x 2
The Addington
Woking
Cams Hall
Hoebridge

Wow, feels like I've hardly played this year but counted up 27 courses. Mostly just 1 round on each course though and only a handful at my own club.

Been some top quality courses though......both courses at Saunton, Sunningdale and the Berkshire, Hankley, West Hill, Marquess, St Enodoc and the two highlights, TOC and Pinehurst #2

The least amount I've played away in any 1 year since I started to play, normally well over 25+ but so far in 2015 only 12 :(

More a case of quality not quantity also with courses like the The Centurion, Burnham & Berrow, Blackmoor, The Berkshire & Hillside all played in March just before I got injured, I've added Olton, Mentmore, Cooden, Ullesthorpe, West Hill, Alwoodley & Brampton Heath to those, although I've returned to The Centurion once more since and Blackmoor 3 times

I've got West Hill again in a couple of weeks and the Robin Hood so I need another new course to play as I don't want to be stuck on 13 :mmm:

Standout course & clubhouse was The Berkshire closely followed by Alwoodley, really want to play both those in summer months when they are more vibrant, most disappointing was Mentmore, but in all that company above it's not surprising, although the greens were shocking!

Prob over 20 different course Ive played before and ten new ones.

Muirfield
Gullane 1
Gullane 2
Carnoustie
Ladybank
Royal Dornoch
