Mizuno MP4 irons

MP 4 looks nice- much preferred my MP69's- theres something just not quite right about the mp4's cant put my finger on it- maybe just being a tad picky

I would love a new set of mizuno irons but my MP-52s are just so damn good and everyone who takes a peek loves how they look. I love how they feel and I think I will probably be playing them until they wear out! Those and my putter are pretty much in the bag for life.

Might get them reshafted one day though, in a fitting.

Think a new set of Mizzy irons will be my treat when I get down to single figures. Hopefully early next year.

The poor irons that got you that far, like the fast growing football club ditching the manager who got them to the top flight, only to be told he is being replaced by someone with experience at that higher level.

The Mizuno man visited our GC last week and I had a play with the toys 'cos my MP-32s are frankly knackered.

MP4 definitely the best from my perspective. Had a play with various shafts and settled on Project X 5.5
Lovely ball flight; great feedback from the club.

Interested to here the Mizuno rep say modern shafts give less spin which is good. I always thought more spin was good. Anyway, i didn't seem to get any of those shots that climb upwards with the spin, stall and go nowhere so maybe he had something?

Anyone come across any decent deals on these clubs?

Played in the roll up this morning and borrowed a set from a mate who has Projet X 6 rifle in the.

Forgetting the shafts they were surprisingly forgiving and i didn't notice any real distance drop in the air anyway.

I can hardly remember a shot coming out the middle of the club and they still went the same distance more or less as my JPX pro.

These could be in the bag by the time i Play Muirfield on Tuesday;)

Just what's needed for the first shot of the day - and a really nice time to play Muirfield - a slightly miscued 1/2 Blade to warm the fingers up! The other really good time is late Feb/Early March. The Primroses starting to flower on the 5th Tee were the first real signs of Spring! Probably also a bit quieter too these days as the jets (Tornados I think) from Leuchars no longer buzz over and frolic in the dells nearby.

Enjoy the day. It's a lovely golfing environment, A couple of times my host and I were the only folk on the course!

Wrt the MP4s. I can't see the point of making the game harder! Which is why I like the Combo set-up - and hybrids replacing long irons. I've had a few sets of Blades - including Miura, Vega and Mizuno (MP37s), but about this time of year was when they showed how 'fragile' they were when the ball was in juicy grass (more so on parkland than links). I did have a 1-iron w TT100 shaft to use for ball-striking practice a while ago though - it replaced the set of TP9s that I originally used for that purpose. They were the clubs that got me hooked on the feel of blades!

Anyone considering getting a set of MP4's should also consider Orka PS9's or RS1's as I believe they are now called. Look remarkably similar and the Orkas have a beautiful feel to them. Shop around the Orka fitters and you'll probably save yourself a couple of hundred quid on the cost of the Mizunos as well.

I have a combo set with the RS1s, wouldnt swap them for anything with a Mizzy badge on (sorry mizzy fans), getting them fitted properly and the after service I receive adds to the purchase too :)
