I'm currently using a set of mp30's with DG S300's that i've had from new, I was at the range before and tried the mp52/57's both with reg DG 300'S which i didn't really like.

The mp62's looked and felt exactly the same as my mp30's even producing roughly the same distance, ball flight, shape the lot.

The only difference i could see is the mp62 have a slightly ( and i mean slightly) thinner soles than the mp30's.

Do you think it's worth upgrading on the above thoughts?

ta

Forgive me for being blunt here, but don't even consider it. If you're looking for a change get some irons that will help your game and help you get your handicap down.

MP62s, whilst looking nice, will not help you in that respect.

:)

I have to agree with DCB here. Looking at the MP30's it looks like you get the benefit of some cavity backs (progressively less so on the lower clubs) which you'll lose on the MP62's. Definitely a step in the wrong direction in my humble opinion

Thanks gents i will stick with my current sticks for this year at least.

I agree, In fact I would be looking to put the mp30's away in the locker and look at some mx models from mizuno whilst you get below 15.

Hmmmmm

I like the mp30s

But I also like the mp62s.....

But which is better?

There's only one way to find out.........

PS I'm in agreement with the above. If you are looking to improve there are loads of clubs out there at every budget that will do that for you. They might not look as nice, but if they give you a better result, rather than more of the same, then they've got to be worth considering.

I was playing with Titleist 962s which are fantastic clubs, but I'm no longer good enough to do them justice.

I could hit some GI clubs a lot better, but they made me feel like an eejit for considering shovels.

Cue the Benross VX6 irons. Deep cavity for forgiveness but still half way good looking - a compromise that suits both my ego, and my 'wants to get better' brain.

I used to have MP60s, the later version of the MP30s and changed to MP62s. I would agree that there is not a huge difference. I changed mostly because of a shaft change.

I think the point about MX is a good one. At 24 handicap, unless the OP is a terrible driver or putter, a bit more forgiveness would be good, and the MX300 looks like a set that could be used by an improving 24 handicapper, which would still work well when he got to single figures.

Having seen the 30's in action my advice would be to stick with them mate.

Not worth changing your irons on looks alone.

And how you've still got that handicap Stuart I'll never know :D

I played MP30 a few years back, they looked great and I liked them a lot, but when I struggled with my swing, they were a bit of a beast to be honest. Almost got down to 7 at that time so was playing reasonable golf.

Played with an old set of MX900s over the winter and the difference is night and day. The MX clubs are so much more forgiving if you're not middleing it.

I may well end up with a bit of a blended bag this year. MX900s 3-8 & the 9 & W would be my current MP57s.

Definately worth considering a more user friendly Iron. :D

Thanks for your opinions guys. I am pretty consistant with my irons ball striking but my short game probably costs me 10 shots a round. when i had my lessons last year i asked the pro whether my irons were suitable and he said they were.

I think a few short game lessons will bring the hcap down.

I'm a much better player than the hcap suggests to be honest (awaiting the bandit abuse).

FFTD i'm eligible to win the gold letter events now :D :D ;)
