OK - so just been out for lunch with my youngest and decided to go to the cafe at the back of American Golf at the Braid Hills Golf Range. Lo and behold, they've got a Mizuno Demo Event on tomorrow afternoon, with a free wedge on offer for every set of irons purchased. I'm booked for a hit with the 825 Pro's at 3pm..............

Oh Del,I smell a purchase coming on! Indeed I was very close to buying the Pro 825s but in the end I went for AP2 710s as I could not justify £500 plus on new irons and I have hit the AP 2s well in the past. Both great irons for sure, both very nice looking also!

And so it came to pass........... :D

Was fitted for my MX200's three and a half years ago and got Dynalite Gold XP shafts, half an inch longer than standard and two degrees upright.

I hit a few 'test' shots with my own six iron and the fitter immediately identified that the shaft was a little on the light side and that I was hitting balls very high and a little out of the heel. He passed me a JPX825 Pro head in a Dynamic Gold shaft, which is apparently a little heavier than the Dynalite Gold XP. The flight was a little lower and much more penetrating - lovely to watch the ball flying out there!! I hit a good few more balls and the vast majority went exactly where I wanted them to go - lovely!!

So, I've ended up with JPX825 Pro's, 4-PW with Dynamic Gold regular flex shafts, half an inch longer and only one degree upright. Three wraps of tape under the grips too. Also got a free JPX 50 degree wedge and paid for a 56 degree wedge to complete the set. Should receive them shortly after Christmas.

:whoo:

It was a Demo Event at AG at the Braid Hills range, Dave. Fitter was from Mizuno and was very good indeed. They just told me they'd call me when the clubs arrived, but that it might not be before Christmas. I'm in no desperate hurry for them, to be honest.

Nice set of sticks Del, tried them at a Mizuno day at our place in the summer but our pro wouldn't deal with them,i think there was a bit of history there to be honest.

Was the DG the only shaft you tried ? your handicap is to low now for the TP wedges ;)

Hi Steve. Yes, only tried the DG, but the fitter was excellent and really knew his stuff. Was happy with the flight and the stats.

Glad to hear it ,the guy that came to my place was good as well, i tried the DG shaft but they produce to much spin for me so was fitted for a PX shaft that would have gave me a few more yards .I was fitted on the DNA for 5.5 but looking at the figures he said 5.0 would be better ,i had a habit of scooping the ball and he noticed it ,a 6 iron going 8 iron distance so the 5.5 would bring the flight down .

A few tips latter and the 5.0 was going great and i was hitting it much better, hope they work well for you when you get them mate.
