Mince Pies

Cheers guys, you're upped your game in last couple of days, typical blokes you just needed asking twice! ;)

As a cider drinker I'm keen to try those ones as a wee diversion but for traditional style it seems M&S are getting some love so far
Coop local to where i'll be so sounds like it needs sampling too

I know I’ve mentioned it in previous years but try cracking the top and drizzling a bit of brandy into it.

I have had the in store baked ones at

Co Op
Morrisons
M&S

And Waitrose

Best filling was in M&S

Best pastry was Co Op

But overall the ones in Waitrose were far superior than all the others
Yeah, we have the Waitrose 'brown butter mince pies with cognac', I've had one and it was very nice indeed.

I love all mince pies so trying to rank them is difficult for me as I enjoy them all.

I will admit to preferring the original as opposed to crumble topped etc but a basic mince pie and I’m a happy man.

I went into Greggs earlier and saw mince pies on offer so bought some. Got them home made my wife a cup of tea and presented the mince pies as though I was some god like figure.

One bite and we both looked at each other knowing something was wrong, VEGAN mince pies.

The whole lot in the bin now and proof the Devil still works at Xmas I would rather eat my own toenails

Which part of a normal mince pie is not vegan then? Thought it was just fruit, pastry and sugar.

Had to smile this week I bought some from Tesco and some from the Coop.
Disposing of the plastic trays in to the recycling this morning and realised they are identical.

They even tasted and looked the same thing. Just the outer box that was different except both said " Merry mince pies"

Thanks for advice/reviews to my earlier query

By way of update. Over and above the ‘standard’ mince pie I decided to also bring back three kinds I haven’t tried before

Ones topped with brandy butter
One topped with crumble
Ones made with puff pastry

Haven’t opened any of these three yet but will attack in due course…

I would have lower expectations of those bottom two. They tend to have less filling and so are less fun. Hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised and I'm wrong.

Always fun to try different variations though.
