Might have to quit the game - just knackered my back with a 'conventional' swing

James

A few weeks ago my lower back started to tighten up on about the 14th hole. My playing partner told me on the last few holes that I was only using half a swing instead of my standard 3/4 swing but I din't think too much about it and put it down to tiredness.

Although my back was stiff and aching I didn't think too much about until about 02-00 in the morning when I woke up for a pee and could hardly get out of bed. I strugled to work for the next four days in the hope that it would ease up but on the Thurdsday dinner time I gave up and booked into the Drs.

Two weeks later and after a course of Naproxin and Co-Dydramol it was starting to get better. On Sunday afternoon I thought I can't stand it any longer and went down to the course with the intention of doing an easy 9 holes. First hole is a 200 yd drive to the dog leg but with the wind in my face I thought I'd take an easy swing with my driver. It was a lovely shotbut I must have crunched about 5 vertibrae.

I did the first 3 holes and then cut across to the 8th, walked the 9th and went home.

The good news is the spinal crunch may have done some good as my back is feeling a lot better this week. The bad news is my playing partner has missed my wit and sarchasm and booked games for Saturday and Sunday in the hope I'll do my self some mischief so he can win :rolleyes:

I just hope my back copes.

Get well soon.

Unlucky James, you'll have to develop more of a "Senior" swing, the old enemy catches up with us all in the end.

(I can let you know wehre I get my senior style trousers if you're interested, ;))

Whinging old fart

Any excuse to stop me having a go round your new track.

So this year so far, the golfing injuries have only been;

right shoulder,right wrist, left knee, and now the back.

No probs, only another 11 months 'till Xmas.

Forget the pills, my advice is to drink heavily.

So that poxy pipe cleaner you call a spine has finally given up the ghost. Can't say I blame it but I do feel for you. Back pain is a nightmare and nothing feels comfy. HID is currently suffering with a fractured coccyx and is in constant pain despite the painkillers and being evn more gnarly than normal so I'm keeping well out the way. I presume you'll still make a guest appearance at Woburn even if you aren't fit enough to play properly

For the past 2½ yrs, the golfing injuries have only been;

right shoulder, left wrist, left knee, neck strain, left forearm and now the back.

Fixed :mad:

Clearly I'm a bit fragile....... :D

If I was a 'superhero' I'd be this guy.......

I think my GP gave me Naprosyn (Naproxen) last time I had a sore back. I think they prefer to give that now then Diclofenac. Both are very good with joint pain.

Speedy Recovery.

Oddly I was thinking about you Pokerjoke as I was hobbling back to the clubhouse... not those kind of thoughts though!!!! :p

Just goes to show what a crock of sh*t that 'Rory's power move' is... I should sue them! Rotating your hips is BAD for you :mad:

That power move should have a health warning.
Get well soon mate.

Best of luck with the recovery mate...

A couple of days doing nothing will certainly improve the situation.
