So I played a local muni today, which Ive never played, but prices have gone way up here in Florida, and this was the most affordable. It was 27 bucks to ride 18, so not too bad...

Anyways, the TSA (Tampa Sport Auth) has 3 courses in the area, of which Ive only played one, but heard decent things about 1 of the other 2.

I look online today and their membership is 107 bucks a month. Free to walk and 15 bucks to ride. 7 day/week playing priveleges, anytime as well too. And they let you walk even on weekends.

So If I walk I can play unlimited golf for 107 a month. The course is kept up OK, not the nicest Ive played, but definitely not the worst Ive played.

Its not very long, 6300 from the back tees, but thats ok I think.

What do you guys think? Just throwing it out there, wanna see what you guys would do..

Thanks!
:D

At UK prices that's £775 (ish) for the year. No joining fee? How does it compare with other courses in the area?
Will it get you into club competitions, sort your handicap etc?
£9 a round for a buggy (hate them!) is cheap by UK prices.

Against that £16 with a buggy is cheap but how do you sort your handicap as a nomad? Can you get into comps or are you not interested in them? Will 4 games/month (for the same money) be enough?

Membership costs over here are hugely varied, from generally stupid in the South to sensible in Scotland.

Mine is a private pay-and-play, about the same length, £400/year ($1000) 5-day green fees plus another £30 ($50)/year for club fees - handles competitions/handicap etc.
Other courses in the area are generally more expensive - ($2000 joining fee + $1300 annual fee at one course), or not as good though still costing more.

Viscount, where do you buy your dollars as I'd like some of that action.

I've actually played 3 courses in Florida. One was like 30 dollars, and not a bad track. Saw some Racoons as well, which I'd happily have paid for, although the guy in the starting hut was slightly racist!!! :-o
