Morning everyone and hope the sun is shining with you as it is in London bringing the prospect of actually playing golf tomorrow ever closer to reality. As long as it's only areas of mud and the odd fallen tree I have to step over I can cope with it - if the weather is such that trees might still be falling around me, I think I'll give it a miss.
Anyway, I digress...
Our intention is to continue with the 'Meet the Forum' panel in the magazine's forum spread this year as a new person steps into the editor's chair for that feature from the May issue onwards (expect an announcement on that late next week or early the following one).
In the meantime, I will be putting together the April issue and at this precise moment my 'Meet the forum' candidates folder is worryingly empty to the extent of actual extinction.
So if anyone who hasn't already been featured fancies five minutes of (relative) fame and glory in the next issue, or indeed the ones beyond that, please send the required info about you and your golf to me at jezz_ellwood@ipcmedia.com complete with a a decent, usable head-shot photo of yourself, eyes to camera.
This is an example from a recent issue to give you an idea of the info we're after and how many words you have to play with
Name / forum name: Richard Cagigao / RichardC
Home Course / Handicap: Bearsted / 17
Dream fourball partners: Seve Ballesteros – my all-time hero; Tiger Woods – the best of his generation; Miguel Angel Jiménez – his attitude is amazing.
Goal for the year: It was to get down to low teens… maybe next year!
Top 3 courses: Antalya Sultan Course, Turkey – amazing course with water, water and more water; Carya, Turkey – a little bit of Surrey miles from home; Woodhall Spa Hotchkin Course: we had a forum meet there this year.
Greatest golfing achievement: Having my name on the same trophy as Sir Henry Cotton for winning the Pilling Cup.
What’s great about the forum? Great forum meets.
Thanks for your help
