On sat we had the last of our Major comps, a medal with the top 4 scores playing off in match play (1st v 3rd, 2nd v 4th) On sat there were two 62’s, (one of which by my dad!) :D a 63 and I came 4th with a 65 (net scores).

CSS was 69 (par 70) Ive never seen two 62’s in a round before. Crazy scoring, has anyone else seen anything like this?!?!

Yes i have . I felt sorry for one guy who come in with a 60 (nett) in the morning and only managed to claim 4th place thanks to a 58 and two 59s in the afternoon  .

One of my swindle shot net 61 (par 72) on Saturday. The guy who came second thought he had breezed it with a net 63.

Glad I didn't bother turning up really. I can't shoot gross one under.

I was last out a couple of years ago in a monthly medal and saw that there were two 64s and a 62 posted.

I proceeded to shoot a 72 - 12 = 60 to win by 2. The guy who shot the 62 was excellent and gave me warm congratulations despite not winning anything for the last 9 years.

I had a nett 62 (CSS 70) and was beaten into 3rd place on countback. Ended up dropping 5 shots when the commitee did me under general play 2 days before the captains day.

A few weeks ago we had 2 lads shoot net 62 early in the day, Evita4 was one of them. A chap out of the second last group then shot a 62 aswell and won on countback.
How jacked off would that have made you had you been leading for most of the day.
I played with said chap last Saturday and his play was pretty woefull so he must have had one of those special rounds.

Not being funny but the course must have been playing pretty easy and short for so many good scores to come in that far under par. Alternatively the handicaps need looking at.

The stableford in division 1 was only won with 39 points on Sunday and the August medal was only won in a nett 66 (-4). How long is the course.

That said there have been some silly scores at Sand Martins where HID works with -6 or 7 nett in medals and 42 or so points being the norm. I admire those that can shoot it but like Murph it makes it nigh on impossible to compete. I don't mind a great score winning as a one off but if it is a regular thing to have to shoot 40+ points everytime then it makes a mockery of it.

The course is just short of 6000yards and a par 69 but I wouldn't say it ever plays easy. We probably have a few players who have had that once in a lifetime round.
At the start of the season we had one chap who had a net 59 and came down to single figures. He hasn't played anywhere near his handicap since and has eather NR or gone up.1 each week.

10/7/2010 at my mates course. One of our friends came in with nett 61 in the morning and they all hung around expecting to celebrate a Major win for the lad. In the afternoon lot, a 58, then a 56 strolled in.
H/C's should be adjusted to whatever you shoot when you come in under par. Day in the sun or not. If you've done it once you can do it again. IMHO.
