Manners V's Slow play ??

I'd see it before it hit my ball and stop it doing so, so no big problem.

Erm, I don't think you can do that! You can't stop a moving ball. That's a penalty to you, I believe.

Happy to be corrected.......

Well im not going to let it hit me or my ball i am!!? lol

If i can step away from it though then thats fine.

The law of Sod says that if you drive when they are on the green you will reach it in one, if you wait until they leave you won't. Time to accept what Fate has in store.

Well young Blade, what do you do for your second at a par five assuming, in your mind, you could hit the green?

Is this situation you raise not just the same, players behind on the tee shaking their heads doing the 'Bet he never makes it!' BUT you cannot take the chance and they cannot force you to take that chance.

Be your own man, forget peer pressure if it fails to make the distance, you are not a failure and if it does...take a bow!

Slow play, in my book, is people fannying around. The death penalty should be re-introduced solely for this offence.

Waiting for a green to clear when that green is within your range is not slow play, it is good manners and the safe & the right thing to do.

Is the correct answer - remember we are all liable under the law for the outcome of any shot we hit. Imagine the litigation if you drove a green you knew you could reach whensomeone was still putting out and you injured them.

YOUNG ?? is there another blade on here ha ha .. yeah i understand what your asking & i would wait .. dont think the groups behind would be as bad on that one tho .. i prefer to wait coz i above all else find it bad manners to hit a ball on to a green that others are playing , i was wondering what every one else thought .. thanks guys

If you mean the short par 4 9th then yes - Qwerty drove it in the morning.

Not the 9th I went through that with my hybrid , the 6th was the one I was 1' off the front edge and the guys in front hadnt even reached it yet. I mad a comfortable par btw

You're an animal ;)

I hit a good one and had about 70yds left!

I thought that was the trickiest green and flag position combo on the whole course. Was almost happy to 3 putt both rounds :o

We have 2 x 2 (9 hole course) call holes and a 9th that is 286, I can drive the 9th but only carry 260-265 flat out, so its not a waiting hole just a shout if you think the ball will roll up but as mentioned 9/10 times its off line or rolling.

The problem with waiting hole is trying to educate people to call down the group behind, it can cause a show playing field when a few groups don't.

Is the 6th the one that goes straight, narrow one that goes over the heather then down the hill?

Must have got a good bounce

Errrm , apologies ,I just had a look at the website and I got the holes mixed up , it was the 338 yard 4th not the 6th :o I alaways have trouble recalling courses I play , I couldnt go round in my head now and tell you half the holes we played at Beau.

And that short par 4 9th should really be a call up hole imo

That's still a fair old whack! (Even if it is down hill ;)).

I'm generally pretty good at recalling my rounds but Beau was all a bit of a blur. I was trying to enjoy the surroundings (wish I had a bit more TBH) as well as concentrate on not knobbing every shot.

Wait everytime, although our 3rd hole is a compulsory call through hole so when you're on the green you wave the next group to tee off.
