Just curious about what levels of maintenance are required when courses are closed, possibly for a long period.
For example; would greens need to be mown every day to keep grass in good condition and weeds at bay, could bunkers be ignored for periods etc
Hopefully a hypothetical question, but on the other hand, I suppose courses could be closed for 6 months or longer.

my good friend is a greeny. he said you can pretty much leave the course no problem but greens need attention at least every 4 days at this time of year

Green keepers are still doing stuff at Nairn but all working alone, lucky we have plenty of equipment to aid this.

Kings is still doing stuff as well, even saw them out Sat Afternoon and the usually don't work Sat.

Just been for our daily walk and went around the course for a change of scenery. Looks like the greens have been cut, fairways have a bit more growth on them than usual but maybe just letting some of the patches grow in.

The main thing I noticed was they improvements getting done to the course. The team were in the middle of extending some tees and filling part of a bunker. The tees and finished just need to grown in, the bunker on the 8th has half of its fill in the middle and sand in one side. The other side still needs the sand. Not sure if this will be completed as we are just one green keeper and a few helpers, so just the green keeper working now.

One thing we could all consider once the restrictions are lifted to some degree. Offer free help to get the course ready for competition. Go rake bunkers, put tee markers back out and just have a walk about cleaning litter etc. Give the green keepers more time to mow and a strim. Sooner they are all back in good order sooner comps can start. We can all do our bit to help clubs out..
