There are many manufacturers of oil filters and oils, all of different quality, some better than others.

Its an odd one, as you are correct but AFAIK there is no genuine Honda oil filter. Nor oil.

What then happens if the Honda filter is, say a Fram. A good make but the garage uses a Mahle. A better make.

If this os being treated as a warranty then surely the MVBER has to come in to play on the subject of quality of part.

They will be made by somebody else who then just brand them Honda. But if one of these had been fitted, it would have satisfied the powers that be

Back in the day lots of 'grey pounds' found their way to Honda dealerships... If this is an example of their current business practices no wonder those pounds are now finding their way to other brands...
