Magnetic bands

So would it be fair to say you remain unconvinced?

What gives you that impression? :mmm:

As is the marketing that you'll hit further and straighter with a new driver, you will get more spin with a ProV over a Z-Star, the latest putter will see you stop 3-putting, etc etc.

It seems the bracelet guys have chosen their target audience well.

You always hit it further with a new driver, you always manage to sink 30 footers with a new putter and you always get more spin to enable a ball to bounce and stop dead, of course you do

Show me a golfer who hasn't bought a new big stick only to brag that they are hitting it sweeter, straighter and longer, what they fail to mention is that it not all three at the sme time :)

Its been a while since I was at University, and things may have changed in the world of Science, but I was always taught that it was "Bad Science" to claim that something with 100% certainty. This is why I stated that I was 99.999% certain that they didn't work.

It's actually the length of your little toe's toenail. It's 0.0005% longer than it was when you had your pain.

Prove to me that I'm wrong.

So your scientific ramblings aren't based on any facts. Who said I had any pain?

I had a wrist that loudly clicked once or twice a round, and had done for over a year. I have worn the band for 2 years now and hasn't clicked since. I mislaid it for 2-3 rounds a year ago, and the wrist was clicking again.

Each time it clicked it put me off enough to shank/thin shots, and it also gets inside your head.

The £20 for the band is well worth it IMHO.

I wont say it will cure allsorts of ailments, but it stopped my wrist from clicking. No pain difference as there wasn't any to start with.

years ago i was in an accident and in a lot of pain, my mother bought me a bangle thing and depending on what arm you wore it you turned it a certain way. i had a head injury and a constant headache for months. one day lying in bed (leg in plaster) i read the instructions. it said if you have pain anywhere on your body place the bangle there for 5 10 minutes and it will fix it. so i placed on my head 15 minutes later no headache.
take what you want from this but it worked for me.
all of the above is true:cool:

a i did believe David Icke when he said the Isle of Arran would sink. thats why i bought a flat with a perfect view of Arran. its still there, i dont no who to believe or am i gullable.

Do you wear it on the wrist that clicks? Just wondering if your wrist cock changes when you wear it e.g. less range of motion might stop it from getting to the point where it clicks?

No, the click was his watch moving on his wrist. The band just holds it in place...

how tight is the band?? i wear a wrist support now a days as my wrist is clicking like mad and hurts like hell after a session on the range (broke wrist last year) maybe the tightness of the wearing on somthing on your wrist is helping, ive tried mag bands etc.. dont work for me

maybe i should do a veejay and use deer antler spray :D

The band acts as a physical reminder on how to swing subconsciously a certain way, his wrist then clicks when he swings wrong and causes a miss hit because his wrists are bent. It's not the noise putting him off its his swing not being right!

When he hasn't got the bracelet he's thinking, my wrist is going to click and I'm going to miss hit this. Like we all do. Example "don't hit it right into the lake" then kapow it goes right and into the lake even though we aimed left!

Come on people, it's mind over matter, these things work as a physical prompt on the brain

I don't wear it tight.

It is one that you can loosen or tighten. It would click on shots whether with driver,7 iron, sand iron etc.

Dappa - absolute tosh. How do you know about my swing, or swing thoughts? Because it was only happening 1-2 times a game, it wasn't in my mind all the time.

I think the naysayers are getting less scientific, now.

Yea cos the science that backs the use of these bands is overwhelming. Was your testing valid and reliable? Weather, warm up, activity before your rounds, swing mechanics.....all variables. Let's just trust the magic bracelet though eh?

I don't think he's claiming with absolute certainty that it is the band. He's saying that he can't prove that it isn't. And neither can you. Your opinion may be based on overwhelming scientific study, but can you state with 100% certainty that the bands don't have any effect?

No, I'm not trying to. That's why I mentioned all the other variables...the magnetic band is also one. The op said we were getting less scientific on the last page because we were wondering if the band caused a swing change. Really that was being more scientific.

It's the clicky wrist thing that's interesting. If you know the usual reasons that joints click, It's hard to see how a magnet band would prevent it.

Edit- he did actually sound pretty certain in a previous post:

His wrist stopped clicking when he wore the band
It clicked when he didn't wear the band

Therefore - for whatever reason - the band stops his wrist clicking.
It could be in the mind, it could some mysterious voodoo

WHO CARES?

If it works don't knock it - even if it only works in the mind of the wearer.
It might not work for some or even most but if someone gets relief from a problem by wearing a band then good for them.
I don't believe they do any good but I'm not going to slate others who gain a benefit from them, whether peceived or real.

I play better golf just after I've cut my toenails - any particular reason?

Personally I think they are nonsense but this does remind me of a story about my Dad who suffered for years with an ankle problem that the doctors for whatever reason couldn't solve. The lady who lives opposite "the white which" as we call her is big into crystal therapy and she eventually convinced my Dad to let her do her crystal stuff on his ankle. During the treatment my Dad could have sworn she was manipulating his ankle with her hands but my Mum was there all through and says she didn't touch him once. The long and the short of it is his ankle pain disappeared. I don't know why or how but it worked. Could be the same with these band things.

Is the correct answer. Whether it is pyschosomatic or not, I play 1-2 less bad shots a round. People invest hundreds/thousands of pounds in new gear to try to get this.

BTW Did I mention I got a pair of Callaway ear defenders when I bought my wrist band. :)

Ear defenders for golf?

What's next, Taylormade rocketstabz proof vest?

PING GGGGGGG G-unit

I developed an ache in my wrist last summer and I can remember asking about these bands myself on here. So I bought one, I stuck with it for over a month even though I kept having to fiddle about with it between my sleeve and glove and it became a pain in itself!

So it didn't work for me, no more than not having sex before a fight and my legs still buckling after a sweet right hook
