Luke Donald wins......................

Ok, but let's not forget that Luke had a serious wrist injury not so long ago. He's now in the top ten and as somebody has said, there's a lot of young talent comimg through right now. I'm not too bothered about his image to be honest, just his ability to hit a golf ball, and as far as I know - no skeletons in his cupboard and doesn't throw his toys out of the pram.

Which reminds me, watching Robert Hanson teeing off at last weeks PGA at Wentworth, I was quite taken aback after he pushed his drive into the rubbish right, when he said, loudly enough for all to hear, "That's the fourth time I've been in that f*****g rubbish this week". "Every f*****g time on this f*****g hole". Then threw his club behind him and nearly hitting a lady spectator. It was quite surreal, hearing him swearing in perfect English!

Golfmmad.

Crap life being boring!

$16m on the US tour
£5m on the Euro tour
Ralph Lauren "clothes horse"
Tidy wife
Strolling round in the sun for a living

Oh to be so dull

If you read the OP it was asking why nobody posted anything about him winning and I explained why I didn't sing hs praises. As I also said he is a smashing bloke and has a lovely swing but I just find him bland.

Goes far for us amateurs but he's a little short for the pros - I think it's just his choice to hit smoothly and not try to belt it unlike McIlroy or Fowler who're also smallish physically but hit it far harder.

Firstly very well Luke he has been there or there abouts all season
Secondly he is not short he just isnt long and to me the reason for this is he has an old fashioned swing, a pre Tiger swing that isnt built around rotation and lag his swing is built to be consistent

He is definitely short. The driving distance stats for the PGA Tour runs down to 190 players, and Luke is 178th among them. Unfortunately he is not all that straight either, so is 157th in overall driving (distance and accuracy combined).

On the European Tour, he is not listed for 2010 (probably not enough events played) but his 2009 driving distance would put him 171st out of 193 players.

should have taken a provisional - he'd have got her with the second ;)

If his swing is so nice (every body here has said so, so it must be true), how come the ball doesn't go very far?

What's a nice swing got to do with how far he hits it? Maybe his swing speed is not as quick as the others, doesn't stop it being a nice swing.

He is definitely short. .....

That is as a comparison against players that you could label as "very long".

The guy still averages 270+ over the whole season and he can move it out there if necessary. I saw a couple of examples on the Sky coverage last week where the yardage was 260 to the green and he flew a 3 wood on there.

Heck, don't you think anyone can have a 'nice' swing if they are deliberately clubbing up?

Surely one of the limiting factors for a pro golfer is the ability to 'put it out there'?
