..........and yet no comments on here from anyone?

Given the double bogey at Wentworth in the last round when he should have won the championship, and effectively 'choking'. I reckon he's done well to bounce back.

I've occasionally been a tad critical of his performance on here. Journeyman, just in it for the money with no real desire to win etc. (Though of course, I've never met the man!). But this time he's won.

I really like his seemingly effortless swing, particularly with an iron or wedge in his mitts, and his bunker play is great.

Is this a resurgence of the old Luke that we had such high expectations of when he turned Pro, or is the new caddie the key?

Though it's got to feel great having a bit of form heading towards The Open.

I don't think he is a journeyman, just in it for the money. That is unfair. He is currently 9th in the world, hardly a journeyman position. Luke is a hard worker and wants very badly to win. He just lacks the distance to compete on some tracks (178th on the PGA Tour), and his putting has been patchy. He was also out for a while with injuries.

Strangely, I was always keen to see Luke do well when he came onto the scene. Even before I was playing golf as my main pastime. But he never quite seemed to fulfill the promise. Perhaps it was media hype at the time. The next Faldo etc. Don't get me wrong. I think he's a great player, and I hope he does grab at least one major. Though with so many good guys out there, it'll be a hard slog.

His recent improvement has, at least, reminded us that he's still here, and won't be side-lined by the new generation of British golfers. All the better for British golf really.

At least he's using decent kit though. :D

I totally agree to lose the BMW and then to get over that disapointment so quickly shows what a competitor he is,hats off to him.

I agree that it shows some degree of resilience but the field was hardly the quality of the BMW and so lets not go overboard. You can only beat whats in front of you and he did look pretty good when I caught glimpses of him but I don't think there is a major in there. Still it bodes well for the depth of the European game to ahve him back on form so well done Luke

I think Luke Donald is one of those players who always flatters to deceive, like Poulter,Casey,Rose etc,but now their winning tournaments perhaps they have got what it takes.

Great swing I agree. Bit dull I also agree with. He's a fairways and greens guy, doesn't hit it far but is straight. Fairly rakes up the cash with consistently high finishes on the PGA tour but I agree a Major looks beyond him.

Madrid Open was fairly small fry as far as tournaments go but I suppose a wins a win.

Fairways and greens guy, forgive me but isnt that the idea?

He is a bit like skimmed milk, you would use it if there was nothing else. Nice chap, lovely swing but doesn't tickle my pickle.

I agree. I just watch him and think "there's a guy playing golf who's quite good"....that's it. It's as if someone has pre-programmed a robot to go out and shoot some nice scores. There's just no drama or character emitted from him. Blander than bland.....dull, dull, dull.

I've always thought he was alright, seems a thoroughly decent fella. Was pleased to see him win on sunday after wanting him to win the week before. Not really his fault if the other 'better' players gave the tournament a miss.

Hope he makes the Ryder Cup too

Come on Hapless, you know what we mean. Nice lad but he just doesn't have any of the fire you might see with Poulter or Casey or McIlroy, it's all nice and steady Eddie.
I liken him a bit to Tim Henman in tennis, very capable sure but a little bit robtronic. The fist pumps just don't look natural. He's like Faldo but less interesting and not as good.
Great swing though!

I like Donald, love his swing and like the fact he's not an obnoxious ***.

I'd love to see him win more and compete on Sunday in a major but if I'm honest, I don't think he has one in him. Would dearly love to be proved wrong though

He is Ralph Lauren's taylors dummy. Just like Nick Dogherty who is a clothes horse for Tommy Hilfinger they are all about the image rather than golfing talent.

Remember Anna Kornikova who looked great but couldnt play elite tennis, well I get the same feeling with LD and ND.

I think that's a bit of an insult to Luke Donald and Nick Dougherty. Kournikova didn't win anything did she?

Golfmmad.
