Must admit, I've wondered at times why I've got a putter, doesn't seem to work right.

17 pts foursomes stableford around Royal Birkdale - 7pts on front nine told us we could only improve back nine - we did...

Embarrassingly we were the teams 'trump card' but me and my mate got merrily blootered the night before when staying in the Scarisbrick Hotel in Southport - chatting up the bar staff and waitresses and getting nowhere of course. Ah - memories...

We popped into the Scarisbrick while we were up there on the recommendation of a member of my club. Can see how that happened. Very hospitable place with some friendly (and attractive) staff both female (ideal for me) and HID (who was having a crafty look!). Did look like it needed a clean up and a lick of paint and was a little tired but a great night out

My first ever Stableford at North Foreland GC a pretty tough course in Kent and I scored 15 points. Actually not too bad a score when I think back

I once scored only 11 Stableford points when I had a fit of the shanks. Even that was due to my short game and putting being in good form when I managed to get close to the green without losing a ball! The lowest Stableford score I know of was 1 point. That was by somebody who turned up at a work society day having never played golf before and without even a set of clubs. He was loaned a set of very nice Titleist clubs by the pro shop, but they didn't help very much!

My lowest ever score was 7 around the Brabazon.
I was still pissed from the night before though.
