Played in first qual comp on sat and although it was a pretty windy day the course was dry and firm with a bit of bit of sunshine to boot.

Was 3 under handicap after 12 but dinged 13 and 14 and DBed 17 to finish with 36 points.
Pretty disapointed in the finish esp as i was hoping for a nice cut.

Well, the CSS was 33 and i ended up with a 0.9 cut :)

Was really suprised it was that low. Could only put it down to the rustiness of the rest of the field.

Also, as it was a medal and i NRed i was suprised i got any cut lol

Handicap is based on strokes not points and an NR counts as a net double bogey so you could still get cut. Are you saying CSS went up 3 strokes from PAR, if so it is unsual.

HID got a bigger cut than he expected after their medal on Saturday. Nice conditions yet the CSS was 70 (par is 68). I've not yet known ours be anything but 1 or 2 under the par but here's hoping!

Our best medal player competed in the EWGA Regional Finals last week and the Par was 74 and CSS came out at 77! So the 110 best medal players in the region struggled and she was 3 under handicap. She won which was awesome and was delighted to get a whopping cut.

Thought CSS could only drop by 1 or go up a maximum of 3 before event becomes reduction only. Or have things changed again ? ;)

No, not changed. The OP had related CSS to points ie. 33 is 3 below 36 so CSS had gone up 3.

Ours is usually 71 or 72 (SSS 72). Rarely it goes up, but the first time this year we had a qualifier off the yellow (SSS 70) tees it went up 3 and was reductions only.

It was really windy and cold yesterday for us, but CSS stayed same as SSS. I got 37 points so only a 0.2 cut.

My playing partner had an eagle on a par 4 for 5 points which helped him to a 40 pointer. Don't think that helped the CSS.......

I also landed in a footprint in a bunker that hadn't been raked and all I could do was hack it out for a double bogey....that cost me another 0.2...........and finishing bogey, bogey on the easiest par 3 on the course and the shortest par 4 cost me another 0.4 .............:(

Nice to see you are hitting some form for Woodhall.

Better get it sorted for the Volvo though mate. I could be relying on you quite a bit.

at brough is par 68 sss 69 on saturday css came out at 70

woodhall spa off yellows is par 71 sss73 and normally both courses stay around that mark very really come down

last year played in the carnoustie tassie and it was 30 to 40mph winds players off scratch and 1 or 5 were coming in with gross 90s at 1st they made the css 77 then changed there mind and it non quailfying

Yep max change is +3 to -1 on normal SSS (not par).

I know some people think CCS is a good thing, others think it's a bad thing. I'm in the middle.

Our CSS sometimes goes up by 3 if the weather is particularly bad. It went up yesterday by 1 which kept me in the buffer zone.

That's when I think CSS is a good thing. :)

Unlike when CSS goes down and I'm under h/cap. Then it's a bad thing.
