Lost to my daughter

Just got back from two glorious weeks in Spain. Didn't intend playing golf, but the appartment had a set a mens and womens clubs so I took my daughter Sophie out for her first 18 holes. The course at Los Flamingos is quite quirky, par 63, with a lot of short par 3's.

Sophie kept the gross scores, and at the end we worked out the stableford points. I had a respectable 35 points despite four blobs which I assumed would be good enough. After 9 holes Sophie had 11 points, but on the back nine, playing off 54, she had two pars, each for 5 points, and had 25 points for a total of 36 points.

As you cam imagine she was rather pleased with herself, and like most golfers is know quite happy to talk anyone who will listen, through her round. I understand the result was quickly put on facebook.

First time I have not minded losing a game.

My wee girl is 2 and whacking plastic clubs/balls around the house! Looking forward to losing to her in the future

16, so I am normally lucky if she speaks to me, let alone play golf !

you lose a daughter,i have lose both the sons to the game out all the time play around the house and on the course,have that to cut two greens in the garden with flags aswell it can only do them good

I lose to my 4 year olds creative counting even now. Heaven help me when he's older!

Still, I won't complain as long as it puts a smile on his face - because him smiling means I'm smiling too!

I can't think of anything better than a walk round with your son or daughter. My son is 29 and I have a game every now and then when he doesn't play football and I really enjoy the father and son bonding time.

i cant wait for these moments my eldest is 5 and a half and for her 6th she will be getting her own pink golf clubs

my youngest is 7moths and will have the plastic varity from as soon as he old enough

they will always have the option and the means to play the game weather they choose to or not is upto them

i cant wait to knock some balls around with them both

My youngest son is 11 and has been playing for 2 years. I regularly lost to him when he was playing off 54 at the start of the season, but he's been slashed quite a bit over the past couple of months. Playing off 42 he won the junior medal last month with a net 64. they cut him to 38. He went out two days later with the new handicap and snagged 43 points in the junior stableford, has since been cut to 34.

It's getting easier for me to compete with him, but I'll be more than happy for him to keep developing like this...

My daughter is now 13 and plays. Last year on holiday she 'seriously gubbed' both my wife and I over a nice little nine hole course. We played three times and over the three rounds she showed no mercy
