Losing weight/fitness thread

Gave Alex Beeves a follow on Instagram, 2 days later I’ve got a DM from him asking if I’m there for ideas or if I was looking for some personal help. Assumed it was AI kicking out some automated messages but have had several messages back and forth so maybe it isn’t.

Back to my progress, not so much exercise done in the last few days, but the healthy eating has continued…..small steady steps

That's what happens with the majority of insta PTs you start to follow. It's how they make a living. Must be tiresome for them

Conditioning circuit this morning, 10 Cals Rower, 10 Burpees, 10 Cals SKi Erg, 400M run, rinse and repeat for 45mins.

Shoulders and Arms this afternoon, felt absolutely fried by 5pm so binned off going to the range to hit balls. But feeling good and getting closer to that holiday !

Squats, leg extensions, hamstring curls and calf raises last night, legs destroyed.
Have booked a massage for Monday night to hopefully get some tightness off of my hamstrings.
Did 6.5 miles on Wednesday as well, 56 minutes in to strong winds and almost 200ft of elevation gain.
Really hoping I can break 50mins for the Baxters 10k a week on Sunday, but a big ask in my current condition 😂 😂

Planning to run in a 10k event, never done an organised run of any kind - any advice what to expect and do/not? Not aiming to break any records just to try something different 🙃

Get there early, get signed in and warmed up. Run at your own pace and don’t get drawn in to beating anyone but yourself.

Most importantly just enjoy it ☺️

Nothing new on race day, only what you've trained in.
Don't stop still at water stations
Don't sprint the first few miles, caught up in the atmosphere
Whatever happens, it'll be your PB.

Went past the 1000 miles mark for 2025 last night, going to try to get to 1300 by NYE. 100 per month. Always a bit more tricky when the pavements start to ice up.

I hate 5ks, I'd do them after halves and 10ks. With a 5k, you feel like you have to peg it because it's a short distance, and end up buggered in the last mile. Well I do anyway.
I’ve signed up for the Marathon next year and will do a half in March if it fits in with work.

They are longer than you think, the timing is crucial to get a good time.
Best I ever did was 23:57, and that had a lovely downhill section between miles 1-2, and just held on after that. Doubt I'll get lower, I just don't do the distance enough to pace it properly. Rather go further than quicker.
