Losing weight/fitness thread

Went to the gym at lunch time today for the first time in about 2 months. Got this stupid ache in my shoulder through my bicep that won't go away. I tend to sleep on that arm and it so sore/stiff. Using a band to try exercise it. Tried a few dumbbell exercises today but it didn't feel right. Going to stick to the treadmill, spin bike and legs. Good to be back though.

Had my 65th last week and weighed myself on the bathroom scales - 11st 2lbs.
That is 2lbs heavier than 45 years ago.

Mind you - I was 11st 12lbs in February this year.
Approx one pound per month was very slow and steady. Probably a good way to do it.
No extra exercising involved - just closer attention to food and drink intake.

I hope I can remain steady over winter and into next year.
I would like to say that I'm feeling better or healthier or something, but really I feel just the same - only lighter.

Just went to have my first weights session since my shoulder incident nearly 3 weeks ago. Started light with 17.5kg DB! Absolute no go instant pain back in the shoulder

The bullet is going to be bitten and off to the Doc tomorrow:cautious:
Nothing worse than a shoulder injury, affects all the upper body moves.
Rest and painkillers, then start light again.

After 3 weeks rest I was hoping it'd be okay. Sadly with my work I can't rest the shoulder as 90% of everything we do is physical in some way, so it's gonna have to be off to the Dr and see whats going on with it!

With the Great South Run on Sunday, last night went out for a long run. As due to my Achilles injury the most I've been running is 10 miles a week for the last 2 months.

But the Shockz on and off I went, just going running only really checking my mile splits. Did 7.8 miles at 9:40 minute miles which I was over the moon with.
Achilles ached for about 30 minutes or so afterwards and seems to be ok this morning.

So I'm confident that I'll survive Sunday. Won't push it I'll look to beat my second quickest time of 1 hour 47 minutes.

I’ve been using an indoor cycling bike for the past few months and it's made a big difference. Easy to fit in a quick 30-40 minute session even on busy days, and it’s helped with both weight and stamina on the course. I stick to low resistance with higher cadence to keep the impact low on my knees. Pairing that with light weights twice a week has worked well for me.

Legs yesterday but couldn’t squat as can’t get the shoulder comfortably round the bar so lots of sets on plate loaded leg press.

Cross trainer today for 15km. Had to do it holding the non moving handle as even the forward motion hurts the shoulder and running which is my normal cardio also hurts it with the swinging movement. This could be a long recovery if the doc doesn’t figure it out soon. ☹️

How long did that take?!?!?

On the machines at our gym I do about 1.7 km in half an hour.

Took me just over 37mins (37:48) using the TechnoGym one we have on resistance level 4.

1.7km in half hour seems ways off what sort of pace you going at and what resistance level. I’m genuinely baffled at that pace 🤔

I can run a 10km in sub 45mins and cross trainer is always quite a bit faster and quicker per KM.

Level 4 and think they are also Technogym. Never trusted the reading but go for time not distance so not really concerned. Heart rate is definitely showing I am working hard and not dawdling :ROFLMAO:

8.5miles last night, and 1lb off this week.
Started doing weights in the garage this week, I'm so weak it's almost funny, like zero muscle at all. I benched 30kg and was struggling, will revisit this in a year and see if it's improved.
