Losing weight/fitness thread

5lbs on in 3 weeks 🙈🙈🙈
No gym or running until I feel better, everything has taken its toll and I’m running on nothing, hopefully feel better in the next couple of days.

That's pretty good if you aren't exercising. It's difficult to stay in a deficit some times.
I've put on 3kg since the end of April, thought it was alot more then that. I've put some things into place to help with getting this weight back off for when I' working away.

I always found working away to be the worst. No access to a gym, easy to just eat rubbish and have a few drinks in the bar each evening. Give me routine every time.

I agree with every word of this. Being away is a nightmare because routines get ruined and I do everything based on routine during the week! Absolutely screws with me if things get slightly adjusted and my training gets moved around

I've joined a gym up at work with a friend, did Yoga last night plus all my Physio exercises.
Then this morning with a friend a weights session and before Physio exercises again.

Been making 1 pot recipes to take to work and have in the evening, it's alot easier when it's colder :P

Managed to get a NHS physio appointment after being referred from my doctor's. It's taken nearly 3 months to get this for my back and hips. Went this morning. I was in there 12 minutes and given a link to some stretches to do, most of them I already do!! Looks like it's back to paying the chiropractor again. Useless.

Back and Shoulders last night at the gym, decent enough workout.
Anyone done a marathon on here and have any advice.
Been offered a place in 6 weeks time, longest run to date is 13.5 miles.....
Time wouldn't be a consideration, but I'd like under 4.5 hours 😂

Never done one but that seems a really short training window. I'd want at least a 22 miler under my belt before attempting the big one.

With your base fitness you'd get round though I'd expect.. might sting a bit 🤣

Question for the runners, how do you find motivation when it’s bucketing down? If I’m honest i definitely prefer the long cross country walks/jogs around the bridle paths near me opposed to just grinding it on a tread mill in the gym.

Gonna have some time away from golf and based and the long term forecast it seems I need to get into the mindset of “ it’s going to be wet! “

I treat rain when I'm running like I treat rain when I golf.
Ie. I wait till it's not raining any more. Life's too short, I'm not trying to qualify for the Olympics.

When I was training for the half, I was out in all weathers, makes you mentally stronger, more resilient and when the going gets tough you know you’ve been through worse and you’ll get through it.

Suppose this is also the same mentality for a lot of sports, golfing in the rain makes you appreciate the dry etc etc.

If it’s bucketing down and you don’t have to run then don’t it’ll just suck the enjoyment and benefits of it right out of you.

If it’s just showers then make the most of its cooling effects on the body that obviously runs hotter whilst pounding the pavement.

I have no choice I have to get out do it so if you do have to or chose to, then it’s all about prep work. Ensure you have a lightweight breathable jacket that will let the rain bead off of you, same for a hat stop the rain getting in your eyes, proper socks and trainers to, if it’s crap out I run in a pair of breathable seal skins socks stops the feet getting swamped! Make sure trainers are of a goretex variety and not a normal summer running trainer.

None of it will take away what it’s like to run in it but it will make it a little more bearable.
