Losing weight/fitness thread

Inverness Half Marathon today, my first ever half marathon in my life 😀
1.52.04, 8.33 mins per mile.

Honestly never felt that comfortable all the way through, started with the 2hours 10min group hoping to break 2 hours, but felt like I was doing a lot of dodging at times and legs really heavy from mile 8, took a lot of mental energy to get the job done.

Absolutely delighted with time though, never envisaged that 😀

If I can do it anyone can 👍🏻

I’ve done over 40 Half-Marathon Races and probably 20-30 more over that distance when training for Marathons, looking at your pace and factoring in the hills, I don’t think you’d have a problem completeing a half marathon.

The only if/but, is what would be your aim? Time or the Distance, 9 minute pace is sub 2hr (1hr 57mi ).

So if you “just” want to run the distance, the fitness level you have now would be ample to step it up and complete the distance.

If you’d like to run one in a “particular” time, then obviously there would be a lot more focus on the timings and distances to achieve while you train.

If you go on line there are loads of trg programmes for virtually every pace you could want.

Never in doubt bud, congratulations, 👏👏👏

Sub 4hr Marathon next? 😬

Surprised myself this afternoon. My daughter, a decent gymnast, challenged me to a press up competition after she’d done something at school. I’d not done press ups for a long time and had no idea how many I could do in one go. I was shocked to learn I could do 27 in a row (possibly started too quickly). Losing to a 12 year old did take the tarnish off slightly.

27 is still very good. Push ups are hard 🤣

I need/want to try squeeze in a yoga session or 2 to help with my back/hips. We had a wellbeing week at work 🙄 (tick box) and did a yoga session and it was brilliant. Just need to find a spare time to do it. Not enough hours etc...

112.6 this week was the weigh in after going up last week

Been down the physio as pulled my groin muscle few weeks back and been feeling it on the course. 4 appointments booked but just continue playing to keep the movement so not too bad

Third and last CrossFit Open workout yesterday. Bit sore today. Got further than I expected as managed to get 20 calories on the final row. Chuffed with that. Session was:

5 Wall Walks
50 Calories Row
5 Wall Walks
25 Deadlifts
5 Wall Walks
25 Cleans
5 Wall Walks
25 Snatches
50 Calories Row

20 minute time cap.

I had to sit for quite a while on the rower before I felt I could stand up. Not sure I've worked that hard in some time.
