Losing weight/fitness thread

27 is still very good. Push ups are hard 🤣

I need/want to try squeeze in a yoga session or 2 to help with my back/hips. We had a wellbeing week at work 🙄 (tick box) and did a yoga session and it was brilliant. Just need to find a spare time to do it. Not enough hours etc...

I'm sure there'll be some short YouTube "Yoga for Hips" type of classes you can try. Start with 10 minutes. Better than nothing (says she who hates yoga because it's hard)!

Surprised myself this afternoon. My daughter, a decent gymnast, challenged me to a press up competition after she’d done something at school. I’d not done press ups for a long time and had no idea how many I could do in one go. I was shocked to learn I could do 27 in a row (possibly started too quickly). Losing to a 12 year old did take the tarnish off slightly.
As a fundraiser, my daughters gym are doing a Dads challenge to try and learn a giant in a year, I’m currently resisting as I don’t want to hurt myself ahead of golf season, but the pressure is growing and I might accept on the basis I use the Spring/Summer to build fitness and learn technique.

I was also reminded last night I have a 10k at the end of April, I’ve not run 10k for years so decided to give it a crack this morning - 1hr 3m, quite happy with that, I was sensible and walked about 100m of hills, plan to do it every Sat AM, hopefully the last km won’t be so awful next week.

I quite fancy trying a hot pilates session too. Pretty certain I'd fall over towards the end of the session though 🤣 I used dismiss these sessions as a bit flakey but they really work muscles you didn't think needed working!!

Third and last CrossFit Open workout yesterday. Bit sore today. Got further than I expected as managed to get 20 calories on the final row. Chuffed with that. Session was:

5 Wall Walks
50 Calories Row
5 Wall Walks
25 Deadlifts
5 Wall Walks
25 Cleans
5 Wall Walks
25 Snatches
50 Calories Row

20 minute time cap.

I had to sit for quite a while on the rower before I felt I could stand up. Not sure I've worked that hard in some time.
Wowser. Tired just reading. How long does a 50 calories row take?

Weights Thursday

Shoulder Press Machine - 3 Sets
Close Grip Row Machine - 3 Sets
Lat Pulldown (Wide) - 3 Sets
Single Handle Lat Rows - 4 Sets

Weights Friday

Dumbbell Bench Press - 4 Sets
Dumbbell Incline Bench Press - 3 Sets
Cable Crossover - 3 Sets
Machine Flys - 3 Sets
Smith Machine Close Grip Bench Press - 3 Sets

Decent workouts, was planning a run today but have decided against it.

I'd planned on around 4 minutes and to keep the cals/hour at 800. I felt ok at about 850 per hour though so nearer 3 mins 30 I think. I had hoped to get to my max out pace of 1000 cals/hour in the final moments but I was toast. If it hadn't been for others supporting me I might have stopped as I felt rough!

Impressive!

Run today - 5.29miles in 52mins, 9.47mins per mile

Run was a struggle after legs on Monday, I’ll need to find a solution for this as makes the run so hard from the beginning 😩

Apologies for quoting myself, but I've agreed to do the charity fundraiser for my Daughter's gym, first proper session is on Friday but tonight I get the pleasure of being bossed around by a 9yr old on some basic exercises to prepare for Friday.

Weighed myself yesterday and I was 13 stone 8 & 3/4 - down from around 13 stone 11 last time I weighed myself. Was surprised at that as I haven't done anything excercisey in a long time. I even had three takeaways last weekend as well, although they were all on the healthier side - Pho beef brisket noodle soup on Friday, sushi on Saturday, chicken shish with bulghur wheat on Sunday. I think Friday I had an Oreo milkshake too, but liquid calories obviously don't count.

Joking aside, we must be doing something right with our portions. My wife is claiming credit for the concoction of pills she's got me on too, but who knows.

I did arms and chest tonight. Dumbbells session:
Dumbbell deadlift, bent over row, pullover, bench press, incline hammer press, flat hammer press, fly, incline bench press all X3.
15 minutes on the cross trainer

Very similar to mine. Although I did my cross trainer session this morning. Flys and lateral/front raises are still very much my weak points.
