Any one got any tips / drills to cure the above, as I transition for the backswing to the downswing I lose height and hit the ball fat.

Sometimes my hands rescue the strike but it's creeping into my game more and more.

cheers, jnr

Are you trying to hit the ball too hard or simply trying to scoop it up?

I used to do this when i first start plying because i didnt trust the club to get the ball airbourne with my dodgy swing, I see alot of high handicappers trying to get the ball in the air this way.

Just concentrate on rotation and keep ya legs quiet.

Any chance of putting a vid of your swing up?

I had this problem and was given a drill where you exaggerate your head movement through the ball so that it doesn't hang back during your proper swing. I'm not sure how to explain it but place a ball about a club length in front of the ball you are hitting and as you swing by the time you reach the ball you are striking make sure your head is moving towards the ball that you are not playing and that your eyes are firmly focused on it. It is hard to get used to hitting the ball whilst looking at something else but it helped me. Also it may be worth trying to make sure you are turning through the ball rather than swaying towards the target.

I hope this makes sense!
