Long Iron V's Hybrid

That i20 I sold you not working out?

Not the club, its the idiot swinging it that's the problem!!

I've just never got the hang of hybrids off the tee or deck. I hit irons much better and recently put a 5w back in so I don't need to bother anymore.

I have a ping g20, ugly as chuff, but will never leave the bag! I have a Cleveland 5 wood which I like, but I have just got an Adams XTD TI off here which I used for the first time on Saturday and it went really well!

Depends how my swing is, hybrid needs a smooth easy swing to get the best out of it, if my swing is off I tend to get more from long irons and when it's really windy the 3i flight is lower.

So, there's my non answer I suppose

I can't hit hybrids or fairway woods for love nor money, yet long irons are a piece of pi.. in comparison. It might be because Callaway x-14's pro series are like dinner plates on a stick so are easy to get the ball in the air but having had a few lessons and tried various different hybrids i'm awful with them.

I have both a 3 hybrid which is really a 2 hybrid because it's 19° and 3 iron which is 21° so the two suit different jobs, off the tee if I'm aiming for position I'll go for the iron, the hybrid carries for miles but on the links won't roll much whereas to iron does

19 is firmly a 3h

2h would be 16-17 and longer shaft.

I love nailing my long irons although I carry a 20deg hybrid. Actually mulling over getting a 24hybrid for coming out of the fluffy stuff. I am losing distance on a par5 at ours if I miss the fway. A 24h would get me up thee better than a 5iron. I may drop my 60 wedge to make room

Or just keep my drive on the fairway...simples.

My 4i and hybrid get swapped in and out of the bag with alarming regularity (I don't have a 3i these days). Currently the hybrid is back in after a stint on the naughty step. Normally, I get more consistent results with it, a higher ball flight and more carry.

Long irons. Feels like I can shape my shots easier with the long iron than the hybrid and hit them better more often that not. Strange how hybrids are supposed to be easy to hit but so many people don't find that the case.

Long irons for me . Being a 12 handicapper it should be the other way round but the 3 iron in my set is so playable it's truly take over. Still carry a hybrid though for shots out of the rough.

I've gone with a 19deg 5W, then a 21deg hybrid, then 5 iron, 6 iron etc.

Just not consistent enough with the 3 and 4 iron, and the gapping (215/5W, 200/H, 185/5i) works ok.

Hate hybrids, never got on with them and they bring the field up to me on longer shots. 3i in my sig is more bladey than the main irons but I love it and should probably use it more often, particularly on tee shots into the breeze

Fallen back in love with long irons after hitting my 3 iron so well off the tee, so bit the bullet and bought a 1 iron......early results promising....
