Thinking after today's round I need to work on my driving. Will the pro at my course be able to assist if my driver isn't right for me? (It's second hand and I really struggle with length and distance and lack total confidence using it?

Yes.
There may also be problems with your swing you need to sort too

Best off getting lessons. Like bob said maybe problem in swing

My pro is wishing he had not given me lessons now, twice in a row I have beat him in 3/4 hdcp stableford with a birdie on the last!

Asked him for another lesson and apparently his calendar is fully booked up at the moment...
