It seems work might be sending me Leeds for a couple of months. I don't have a great deal of say in it but it's fair to say I'm not keen....

Convince me, forum, anything to recommend Leeds?

No.

Worked there for 6 years commuting from Newcastle daily, had my share of nights out around the city, was alright but nowt to write home about. Leeds city centre is much the same as any other big city centre, shops, pubs, clubs, takeaways, restaurants and train station.

Edit. I wasn't playing golf at the tme, so couldn't tell you about any courses, all I wanted was the A58 to Whetherby and the A1 home at the end of each day.

Leeds is a fantastic city. Great Nightlife, good music scene, some excellent places to eat. Any idea where you'd be staying? Ask Cap'n Ron for advice. He lives over that way....

And a short drive away from the North Yorkshire Moors... one of my favourite places in the world. I'm married to a Yorkshire girl and it pains me to say it, but I prefer Yorkshire to Lancashire. It has to be North Yorkshire though....

Is that the Pannal meet? Im just waiting for my club fixtures to be announced to make sure there isn't a clash. If not then I'm in. I'll bring the family and drop them off in Ripon at the In Laws..

it is, i've got monthly medal or society day on 13th , and pannal sunday, but i always play crap on 2nd day!!!!!!!!!!

Moor Allerton is very good (27 holes), which we can play for free as a member of Lee park.

I think they see us as "members for the day", so I might be able to get you on cheap also, if I come over for one day. I had a good night on a stag weekend in Leeds, so good nightlife.

You are also only 1 1/2 hours away from the great lancashire links courses.

Look on the bright side, let it work for you. You will have a regular chance to play some other courses that you are normally 3 hours away from. I'm sure you'll get lots of offers from the yorkies and lancs lot on here.

I'm an IT consultant. Going to make a big effort to get out of this assignment. Nothing against Leeds - it sounds ok actually and thanks for all the golfing offers but I could just do without being away from home at the moment.

Watch this space though.... I've only got so much flexibility with the roles I do and don't accept!

Suppose its like most big cities it depends what you like or want to do. Leeds is a good night out and has loads of different areas for different types of nights out. Excellent for alsorts of music, some great bars and restaurants.

Came here from the NE 40 years ago and have seen it develop into a fine City... work/culturally very diverse, economically healthy with lots of opportunities, easy to get around with access to brilliant countryside & rest of UK, gentle climate(for N of Eng), excellent for Golf & sport but not football (compared to NE, this is not a footballing area ), but they are keen.

You'd have to be not trying to be disappointed in Leeds.... keep in touch if you do come down.

I'm sure I would have made the most of Leeds and thanks to all for advice and offers to get in touch but I'm somewhat relieved that I have managed to wriggle out if it.
