How will Westy fair at the Ryder Cup given his lack of competitive golf and the fact that he is recovering from injury?

Will the rest have done him the world of good or will he struggle to get straight back into the pressure cooker atmosphere of the Ryder Cup where being an elder more experienced player the rookies will also be looking to him for inspiration and advice?

Thoughts and opinions?

Me, I'm going to put money on him being top points earner, after all he has an advantage due to the equipment he uses!!! ;)

Good way for him to return, no cut to worry about, only three rounds and lets face it, he does enjoy the RC. With the right pairing on the first day he won't have the whole weight on his shoulders.

I think he'll be fine. I'm sure he's been playing as much as possible but also having rested will be less tired than some. I think he'll be right up there in terms of Europes biggest points earner and would love to see him and Harrington paired together

I think Lee is ready, he wouldn't risk coming back whilst recovering from injury, I think he is 100%.

The team has loads of experience in vice captains.

I hope the crowd give the Yanks some of their own medicine.

Nar not Harrington, I still don't think he should have been picked as his record isn't great

Overall record: Played 21, Won 7, Lost 11, Halved 3: Points 8½

gonna tell him that if you win the Wilson fitting?

Think he'll play with Kaymer for the most part. The rest will have done him good he was looking a bit jaded for a bit this season

I don't understand the problem with Harrington and his record. Look at Woods's and it isn't much better. In 2008 Harrington got a battling half in the fourball on the Friday and he and GMac were only beaten 2 down by an inspired Mickleson/Kim pairing the afternoon. Granted I thought he should have won the foursome on Saturday am and lets face it being last match out in the singlesmeant there were hardly any competitive juices flowing over the last few holes and he just wanted to get in.

Since then I think Harrington has become even grittier and I think he'll be tough to beat. He showed some return to form last week as well. Westwood had looked tired despite the injury and I reckon the rest and chance to work on his game will be a great thing

Monty reckons Harrington was the top man in practice today..

Lee will be ok.
He's been playing for a while now just not competitively. Having said that if he's been playing Chubby for money it wont get much more competitive than that.

I think Lee will do just fine. He (like Darren Clarke) is a Ryder Cup animal.

He was in shocking form in 2002 after the 2001 cup was postponed and managed 3 points (only going down narrowly in the other two as well).

He'll do us proud.

I'm sure Monty wouldn't risk Westwood if he wasn't ready. After reading of Monty's Captaincy in terms of preparation and detail he seems to have everything covered.

The weather doesn't look too promising over the weekend so the Yanks as we all know, are not too keen on wind and rain!
And Tiger, like our Macster, HATES IT!! :D

Golfmmad.

I don't buy this Americans can't paly in the wind and rain theory. Just look at the Open results since 2000.

2010 Oosthuizen
2009 Cink(USA)
2008 Harrington
2007 Harrington
2006 Woods (USA)
2005 Woods(USA)
2004 Hamilton(USA)
2003 Curtis (USA}
2002 Els
2001 Duval (USA)
2000 Woods (USA)

Go back another 5 years to 1995 and 4 out of these five winners were American, O'Meara, Leonard, Lehman & Daly!

Most Open Championships have a decent amount of wind and rain at some stage. I appreciate that this is not a fool proof theory and yes many of you could say that it was a fool who posted it but these guys are professional golfers! The USA Ryder Cup team is very strong they have four of the worlds top five players in their line up. They have Furyk who probably just played the second best bunker shot that I have ever witnessed who played flawless golf in the rain lashed Tour Championship.

Wind and rain will favour us no more or no less than the Yankie Doodle Dandies! Thats my opinion.
