Thanks for all the replies and suggestions so far.
Why not go 4W and 3H and drop 3W and 5W
I only have 11 clubs in my bag. Does this mean I have an excuse to go out and buy more shiny toys?
I was looking at my Trackman numbers last night and noted that my 4i and my 19* hybrid are only about 5 yards different. Thing is with the wind at our place sometimes the 19* is almost pointless so they will both have to say.
I did snap my 5 iron once on a follow though round a tree. As you suggest, every short from then on I wanted a 5 iron. (it was a great short, shame it cost so much)
I can't remember the last time I hit my 5 iron
4 and 6 irons see plenty of use, just not the 5.

I'm not falling for that lol.
It could spawn another half a dozen how far do you hit your...... threads!!
At the moment (apart from driver and putter) I take 3w, 5w, 4h, 5-PW, 52, 56 & 60. The gap I don't like is 5w > 4h.
I also have available a 4w, 3h and 4i.

Ha ha, it was meant to be a question that you ask yourself
what sort of distance is the gap at? its got to be 200yrd plus?Ah, I see.
I did that after having a round with a couple of shots that fell right inbetween 5w and 4h, and I reckon the gap between them is 20-25yds.
I'm going to make an effort this weekend (if it happens) to really commit to a full swing on the 5w but gripped down an inch or so and see what happens.

I honestly don't think I'd worry about gaps that high up in the bag, if I can get chipping distance from 200+yrds I'd personally be happy. But I suppose it depends on what your game relies on (long game vs short game)
It's not really about getting close from 200+, it's more mental.
If I leave an easy-ish chip from that distance I'm happy, but it messes with my head knowing I've not got enough club, or worse, too much.
Im the same. If I'm stood there with say a 210 yard shot but all I have is a 200 or 225 yard club then I'm buggered. I hate trying to hit an easy long iron and I don't like trying to hit a hard one either. I'm more than happy though hitting different distances with my wedges though.
