Having played Kingsbarns on Friday, i feel the need to sing its praises...

I'll post a proper review in the reviews section, but if you have the chance to play it then just take the cost on the chin and pack your bags and go.... phenomenal! From the moment of arrival, there's something special about that course that will live with me for-ever.

Not one bad hole, in fact, i'd say that 17 out of the 18 would be signature holes on any other course.

A fun fun place to play golf and now at my #1 of courses played (ahead of North Berwick West Links).

Only thing missing is Steak Pie off the menu!!!

:)

Glad you enjoyed it Slugger but I have to say after playing it twice now I think it is hugely overpriced and slightly overated and for me the last is a very poor closing hole and of that there are a few,1st,6th,14th weak....it has however some braw holes like 12,15 and 16!

don't agree about the 1st and 6th, but i do think that the 14th is the weakest there - it is a nice break from the challenges of previous holes though and gave a good chance to score well that i chose not to take ;) The 1st is a good hole to start off with and i quite liked the 6th. It's a tricky 2nd shot onto the green, simple as it is, the slope down to the green is quite intimidating as you don't want to over hit it.

I think the 16th was one of my favourite holes on the course.

Hugely over-rated course, beautiful course, dont get me wrong it has some fantastic holes however to me its not a patch on Machrihanish which is TRUE links.

I've played it twice and really like it , it is overpriced, i think tourists pay £165 which is expensive as a Scottish resident i was £68 not to bad but i agree with thecraw its not a patch on Machrahanish by miles now that is a golf course to play, played in one of there opens last year 40mph winds and thrashing with rain ,great :D :D am considering the 4 hour there and 4 hour back trip again this year its that good and i was £15 to play it.

I totally agree. I have played it twice - so I have ticked the box and have the experience. I loved it but would never pay to play it again from my own pocket, it is too dear. If someone wants to host me - great - but for the price I can play elsewhere just as good.

In the area - play the Jubilee course, Lundin Links, Leven links, Elie, or Crail. All great experiences for substantially less money.

No tarten bag OR flashy KB metal bag tag anywhere else. FYI, I still have both momentoes!!

Incidentally last time I played there it cost me £150 per round. I was accompanied by my club's PGA Professional who was astounded to find they only gave him a £20 discount.

All the other courses we played on our holiday (except the Old Course) gave him courtesy of the course.

They (Kingsbarns) do think they are very special.
