My 3 year old grandaughter broke her arm on Sunday night and we have been looking after her as mum has the vomiting virus!!
I have spent most of the last 12 hours shouting.....stop runnning.........get off there......don't climb on that.
She has adapted to one handedness amazingly well and seems quite proud of her 'celebrity' status.

Some years ago (1991/2) I acquired a ready made family (kids aged 7, 10 an 11). After about 2 months I suddenly realised that I was coming out with the same expressions as my Dad used with us!`

Thats normal life for me on the weekends and evenings. So much so, i get sick of the sound of my own voice... how many times can you say NO or STOP in an hour?

I have a little girl with my partner and acquired 6 year twin girls which came ready made when i moved in with her.

I am the person she uses with the twins when they dont listen to her e.g 'Im telling David if you dont tidy them toys up now?!'

god knows why, they would eat me alive ! that said, they seem to do as there told as soon as she says this..

My wife always has a wee smile to herself when our daughter tells her kids off for untidy bedrooms.
Her bedroom was always in a state.

I long for the boredom that comes with hearing the sound of my own voice. Sadly since the ex moved the kids a couple hundred miles away to be with their step father meaning we get a few weeks at most together a year, I don't get to do the mundane things that once used to get taken for granted or became frustrating.

So to all that are lucky enough to think will they just listen, just think it could be worse.

We quite often use the 'good cop, bad cop' routine.... it works quite well as it gives me the chance to vent without the missus whinging at me afterwards

Up until quite recently myself and herself assumed responsibilty, as carers, for one of our grandsons... We had him with us for three years seeing him through his first years of schooling... We both loved every minute of it... Brought it home to me how much I missed of my own sons early years working every hour possible to keep our heads above water and afford a mortgage... Worth it in the long run, I suppose, but you don't get them years back...

When I was a youngster I went and stayed for a few weeks with my Grandparents whilst my mother had my little sister, the story goes my slim Grandmother lost two stone in two weeks due to chasing me around a large garden, keeping me from falling in the ponds, trying to get me to sleep at night etc, etc. 42 years later and I am now in need of my little sisters children to come and stay and help me out losing a little weight.

My middle daughter and I are now having an annual trip to A+E in August each year for broken arms. So far she is 4 trips 2 breaks, one of which needed pinning, and 2 false alarms. It's great having a near teenager not being able to go swimming, to the beach, or most things that kids do during the summer.

having a 11 month old granddaughter we have a ritual of child proofing the lounge before she arrives,remove any item that can be broken or grabbed from her reach,putting little rubber things on the edges of the table,making sure the tv remote is well away from her sticky fingers and putting the two yorkies outside( she loves pulling their ears off!!!!!)and all of a half hour visit,the best half hour of any day .

I always think that folk should have children when they are young.
The latest fad of women having kids in your 40's does not seem to work.
There are a few at the schoolgates who I first thought were grandmothers, they always look worn out and the kids are generally of the single spoiled brat variety.

I agree dude, i am 33, my wife is 28 and we have 3 kids aged between 4months and 5 years. so when i am 50, touch wood all the kids would have left home and i can play lots of golf!

Agreed, im 39 and I have a 17 year old and life is very good, certainly makes the nappy changing at 22 seem very worthwhile.

Too right.I'm 38 and Mrs Dassler is 35, we've got a 13 year old and an 8 year old.We missed out on some stuff with our pals during our 20's, but now they're having kids and I think, you'll be 50 when you kids are our kids age, and we'll be off doing stuff while you're chasing yours around!
