That somehow I have managed to retain the same ball for 3 complete rounds on the trot.

This is most unusual for me,

I realise that posting this is the kiss of death and it will probably end up in the trees on the right off the first tee on Tuesday.

For those of you that don’t lose many balls, when do you retire them?

It’s a yellow Snell MTB-X by the way, decent balls ?

Just think of all those you 'saved' while locked down(y)

I recently when 82 holes with the same ball.

4 complete rounds, then lost it up the 11th on the 5th round. So 82.5 holes I guess.

Wouldn't be surprised if I never do that again, especially in the summer.

I play a new ball every comp.
They go in the bag for social golf.
I clear my bag every three weeks into my practice bag and start again.

One for the tech lads .
What’s the expected life of a ball to be in top condition.?
I would be surprised if it’s more than 18 holes.
Does it depend how hard you hit it?

I once went 72 holes with the same ball. It is now on a plinth, a trophy that my son and I play for on an away trip ?.

Those who can do this regularly need to play a harder course ?
Fairways and greens?
That’s a good achievement.
If you hit all fairways and greens dosnt matter where you play.
Helps if it’s nice and wide though.

I'm generally happy to go a round with the same ball. The 72 hole ball was freakish. My course is quite generous although there are still plenty of spots where you can lose one.

My previous course could eat balls. Although it was a nice course that definitely played a part in my reason to move. (I hope incidentally that you noticed the emoji on my previous post, last sentence. It was not to be taken seriously)

i tend to use a new ball for a comp then, use it for a few bounce games. have a Srixon i used for 5 rounds last week, pretty beat up now. will stick it in the practice bag.
noticed when i used the Prov1 i would only really get a medal and one bounce game out of one of those without it looking like the dog had chewed it

To be fair, I know of a couple in my local area with a few tee shots where you can't see the part of the fairway a drive carries to, so even a decent shot can sometimes lead to a lost ball

If I get 2 rounds out of a ball I am happy. There will usually be some sort of scuff on it that will make me want to bring out a new ball. Currently playing ProV1.

I will sometimes reach for a slightly scuffed ball when playing a provisional on the simple basis of how many provisionals I have lost but found the original ball. If I find the original ball and have hit a wayward provisional as well I sometimes do not bother looking for the provisional.
