Just thought you might be interested how I am getting on.
Swing is such that about 60 pc are within 5 yds of the centre line at the range but there are still too many scuffed , topped, etc shots to really give me a meaningfull indication of hoe it will look on the course.
Club wise , picked up a few GI irons cheap on eBay .the trackman tells me I have a slow swing speed ,so I have picked up a couple of older , but decent ish make ladies flex woods, the ball speed appears to be up a bit compared to my original clubs.
Got a few lessons coming up, so hopefully I can resolve most of the multitude of problems that will identify
Still enjoying it a lot , looking forward to the next range session and spending too much time on eBay.

Loving all the posts on here , a number of them go waaay over my head , but I did find the old man distances one very enlightening. Cheers

Just enjoy it,probably the most frustrating hobby ever.
But a few good shots per round is gold.
Worst things to be doing 🤷‍♂️😊

My 2cts: you've gotten sound advice already. Get back in the saddle and then you can upgrade. Most advances have been made in de driver/fairway and hybrid department. And it's worth getting a modern - 5 years old or less - driver especially, once you know your specs. I.e. Senior shaft, 12 degrees of loft for example.

Enjoy!

welcome, and good luck with coming back

agree mostly with whats been said, the only addition I have is that if you gave steel shafts, and they have been say somewhere for 20 years, they have probably age hardened, so will likely be quite a bit stiffer than when you bought them. That's not to say you should go out and by a shiny new set, just something to keep in mind if your distance is lower than you expected

Thanks for that, most of the old set has had an eBay upgrade. Woods (1,3,5,7) hybrid 5 , 6,7,8 irons ,all upgraded to senior/ Ladies flex , decent brands, so hopefully that issue is covered……cheers though, that hadn’t occurred to me at all
