Jamie Donaldson

Good first European Tour win for Jamie Donaldson at the Irish Open but I am intrigued as to his background.

He was born in Pontypridd but appears to have a South Yorkshire accent? Any one know why?

And to boot his name has every appearence of being Scottish!

Surprised to see that he is 36. I always thought he was much younger.

According to the BBC, he has some sort of genetic spine disorder. Fair play to him for becoming a pro golfer with a dicky back.

Jamie lives in Macclesfield area and has done for as long as I have known him. He is very down to earth and it was awesome to see him win. He lost his card in about 2007 and wasn't phased about having to play Challenge Tour again and he won early and got his card back and is just getting better and better.

He played very, very well in the final round and gave a great interview afterwards. Loved his GG shirt aswell, might have to get me one of those
