Well, I won't be golfing for a while. While trying to stop a leaky tap, I went up to the attic to look for a stop cock. Never really got that far, as just as I was getting through the hatch, the ladder broke, and I fell 6ft onto the landing. Just got back from A&E, and nothing broken, but breathing isn't fun at the moment, and coughing or laughing is a definate no. I feel like I have been run over, and will defo turn an interesting shade of blue over night. Got some horse tranquilisers to take, but they can only be taken with food, and there is none, as my next task was to go food shopping. Bad planning that.

Still got a leaky tap too.

Not been a good day all round really. 24 points this morning. Played like an idiot, and an unlucky one too. Another point 1 back. Couldn't even lose a ball either.

No lasting damage I hope, could've been a lot worse with a fall like that.

Better not blow your vuvuzela too much tomorrow night!

Tough break (or not!)

I cracked ribs a few months back and ended up playing through it but it wasn't pleasent.

Rest up and don't DIY again - its just not worth it.

Sorry to hear that Murph , hope it clears up real quick.

DIY and ladders just doesnt seem to be a good mix though does it. Why would your stopcock be in the loft though ?

Most of the plumbing in my house goes through the loft. The boiler is up there, the hot water tank, etc. The incoming mains goes straight up there, like a distribution centre.

Oh, and I was right, definitely still hurts. Off work for a while too. Not allowed to drive. That'll be fun then.

Atleast you can have some fun with those horse tranquilisers.

'To be taken with food' is just a guide. Get yourself a six pack and enjoy the afternoon's golf on the telly.

In the long run it'll probably improve your swing.

I have climbed that ladder into your attic, I can't believe I was so close to a certain accident!

In sympathy I'll have a beer for you :)

Sorry to hear that but it seems excessive just to get some time off to watch the Open this week. Surely phoning work wit "flu" on Thursday would have been less painful. Hope you didn't have too much of a wait in A&E (Sundays are usually full of DIY'ers and sportsmen) and that the horse pills do the trick

Go steady mate, I cracked a few ribs 10yrs ago doing Ju-jitsu and got up to go to the loo in the night and broke them getting out of bed. Take it easy and do not try to rush your recovery.
Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

a bit of a drastic way to watch the Open but I guess you'll survive on pizza & curry deliveries until you can get the supermarket to deliver too.

keep taking the tablets

Should have got the wife to hold the ladder. She would have broken your fall, been off work all week and you could have gone golfing

Don't do too much this week

It was more a question of lying there thinking what the flip just happened?

And no, all orifices remained sealed. Which was nice. Took ages to remember how to breathe though.
