Is this the worst form of Custom Fitting?!?

most folk would be better going for lessons before they get fit, i have been saying this on this forum for weeks.

I'm going to agree with you on this. I watched an interesting set of videos looking at a customising outfit. They had all the gear to test shaft properties and went through vigorous procedures to get the right length, lie, grips etc.
What I found hard to believe was that they said "get custom fit before or after, doesn't matter"
If you have a home-grown swing and go for lessons, the whole thing could be changed overnight. You might find that whereas previously you did this and that, it now works differently, angle of attack, path, where on the face etc. it could all be changed!!!
Now the height or the player and the length of shaft may be a constant, but what if you upped your speed by a few miles an hour, nudging you into the stiff range, or now have your hands closer or further away from the body through impact. Could make a huge difference, surely??

HI Realgolfer.
Once you have been fitted by ping and if you decide to purchase clubs from them you can return any individual club and have the lie etc changed free of charge.
They will grind your wedges to any degree you require free of charge. It all comes as part of the package.
To be honest i cant see me ever needing my wedges grinding to a specific degree as my game is as probably as good as it will get but its nice to know that i have an option to change the make up my clubs when ever i need to.And for free.

On the subject of getting existing clubs loft and lie adjusted (which I think was the original question), I thought if you had forged clubs you were supposed to get them checked / adjusted every year, as they can change through use?

Yes your absolutely right. AG will probably charge you to re-adjust. Thats why i recon you should find a decent pro to get the clubs off he may do it for free?

The problem with local pro's (not the tart type) is that they charge full wack for everything, at the moment I am at the course maybe 2-3 times a month and really dont get a chance to get to know him, let alone try and get a decent deal for myself and him over clubs.

My three most local pros charge competetive prices! theres so much golf stuff around now they have too to get the custom!
