Is this a real scotty (thinking about bidding)

Nowadays Scottys can be custom finished so it could be that its been refinished at some point? cant see anything that makes it stand out as not genuine

May be entirely wrong but that could be a pro platinum which has been refinished, possibly by a third party. Ask him who refinished it. It certainly does not look like the black pearl finish.
OR just buy a custom putter!!!

Im not going to risk it I do have a gun blue newport 2 already but wanted a back-up.

This is his answer:

It's jet black gloss finish. Very smooth. Was refurbished a couple of years back from a europro tour player. He got work done.

You've got a Newport 2 and are looking at getting a back up Scotty and you play with a Top Flight 5 wood?

I think you need to prioritise your spending! :)

Parmo - sure you're aware of this but send it via your clubs titleiist rep and you'll avoid shipping costs etc, I did this a couple of years back when I bought a knackered del mar. I've heard tom slighter does very good work and will do anything you want to your putter (not constrained by what scotty offers) and comes in substantially cheaper.

Thanks I wasnt aware of that. I will look the rep up later in the year.

This would have been an Oil Can finish originally, so it has been refinished, possibly by Black Oxide Services or Slighter, but should be perfectly genuine. Unless the finish is a water resistant one, it will need some oiling or it will rust in our lovely damp UK weather.

Yes I have a gun blue newport 2, my boss was selling it on ebay and it did not meet what he wanted for it so I bagged it for £100 notes , Im just worried someones going to pilfer it and it's working well for me at the moment so a back up would be good and they don't come up often in black.

The top flite 5 wood was the first one I bought and I have been steadly changing stuff that don't work. Don't knock top flite I think Callaway have something to do with them
