We had a guy at our club playing in the medal this morning who aced the 1st (229 yards). Not a bad start. Apparently he was on fire and didn't drop off at all after that and finished something like net 64 or so (might have been even lower but can't remember). Can't recall hearing about anyone else starting that way

Sorry H but I think there was a thread only a couple of weeks ago...I saw one too a couple of year back in an open comp up in Chester from thr group in front of us before we teed off.....

Probably only happens at courses that start with a Par 3 though.... :p

I hate some people.
I've played your place twice now and haven't needed the putter on the first at all!
Blobbed it badly first time and chipped in for a 4 second time.

If it wasnt a par 3 i think i'd hang up the clubs!!

Aberdour golf club starts par 3, par 3. Someone once was 4 under after 2 in their open!!

Also a good amateur that used to be a member at my track started 3,3,2 for 5 under. Got a text message on the 4th tee telling him his young daughter had fallen badly and had broke her arm. Finished off with 76 or something like that!
