Not 100% sure but I think the pineapple had gone when we signed him
That was the problem - he was a decent player with the pineapple , all ability was lost when he cut it off

God knows what it was but I might has been our striker for the time he was with us, he was dire and then some. Then he appeared on TV slagging our club off saying it was poorly run and basically not up to his standard and he was glad when he left. Needless to say he not the most welcome in the area if he should visit
an absolute disaster of a signing.

You can have that mate - I'll raise you one Andy Carroll !!
We also got egil ostenstadt in that deal, who we later sold back to rovers and got money and James Beattie who we later sold for millions to Everton. Blackburn kept us in profit for a few seasons.

Agreed Carroll was overpriced. I do not think he has been given a fair crack of the whip though by Rodgers, he seemed determined to hound him out of the club from the day he arrived to me. Tell me if I am wrong but that was how it seemed to me.

Think you got that spot on tbh
Yes he was a good £20mil over priced
But played right he could be a beast of a player - at times he was unplayable and caused so many problems but the price tag was always going to be a problem.
Remember when he destroyed Chelsea in the league after the Cup Final
It was clear BR didn't want anything to do,with him

Yep played correctly and used properly in certain games he could be an asset to most teams. Physically not many will get the better of him. Downside is the temptation is to keep pumping long balls up to him all the time.

Injuries are killing him at the moment and yeah pumping it long is never pretty - but get players wide and get crosses into,the box and he will create problems

Chelsea have a squad list of 26 including Moses who is loaned out, in addition to that they have a further 24 players loaned out, giving them a squad of 50. Not so small maybe. I think the original things I said were in reference to you claiming to have a small squad in comparison to competition. Nothing to do with simply hoarding all big names. Although as has been said. You have a first team squad of 24 first team players. You very rarely give a shot to many youngsters. They get a game it two and if don't set world alight it's bye bye.
