Is 14 clubs too many/too few for the amateur

Absolutely would have, but I failed to mention that I have just bought as new set that I expected to turn up yesterday and they still haven't, which meant I only have a 6 iron apart from wedges. That old Hogan blade saw some action today!

lol makes sense. some knock still. what do you play off? oh and what new irons are you getting! hard to beat new bats!

I've been out of the game for two years (again) as I'm in recovery from ME/PVFS so don't have a handicap at all. I'm a tight arse old school type who likes a bargain so I picked up a set of MX23's for virtually nothing with nice stiff shafts. I used to play blades, but this time around I know I'm unlikely to play many 18 hole rounds and wont be practising at all so need the help the Mizzy's will offer.

It's funny being out of it for a while and coming back and seeing all the hype for the new gear - none of which is really revolutionary or changes handicaps at all. I still have a few sets of Hogan persimmons in the cellar that may get an airing!

I have 14 in my bag and there isn't a single one that I never use.
Whether I use them all during a single round is difficult for me to know as I have never thought of it.

Do I need more? no

Would I be ok with less? yes

Do I know which club I would drop? not sure. Possibly my hybrid
