In September Tashyboy is going on his round the world jaunt. My current phone is the iphone8. At the moment I am taking this with me. My contract for the phone expires in a couple of weeks. So I am either going Sim only or swapping. Already spoken to EE who have asked me to keep an eye on iPhone XS deals which they will match. However been into EE today and spoke with a guy re phones and cameras. In ess nice he said ditch the iPhone. He raved about the Mac book, iPad and especially thatch, but said th iPhones are rammel. He mentioned the camera on the Huwaiii which I deffo will not be getting. And he said the Samsung S10 is far superior re the photography. But said it is an all round better phone. BUT. I have a mac book and iPad. How much fannying about is it to switch from IPhone to Samsung. Bottom line is it worth it.
I have googled the two phone comparisons, and the Samsung does seem to edge it. But thoughts on the two devices, making the change from iPhone to Samsung etc greatly appreciated.
PS, Missis T will have my iPhone 8 if I upgrade so will it be a case of nipping into apple shop to change all settings etc.

Tashy....you're going on a round the World trip and you want to use a phone as a camera?
I would be taking a decent compact/bridge camera at the very least for something as special as that.

BTW I have a Galaxy Note 9, one which is sim free and able to take 2 seperate sim cards and operate them without any fuss. Yes it takes good pics....for a phone, but I would never replace my cameras with it.

I'd agree with BM. Go sim only on the iPhone 8, use the £40+pm saved on the "with phone" contract to buy a proper camera.

Like you, I'm fully apple - iPhone, iPad and Macbook pro. I'd really struggle to move one to another platform now. The interdependency between the 3 is equal to the excellent connectivity. My wife is android on a Samsung somethingorother, can I get a calendar to share between the 2 platforms? Can i F*ck!

As someone who recently went from Samsung to OnePlus it amazes me people will still pay the price these phones are nowadays, same android phone for a fraction of the price and without all the nonsense pre loaded samsung guff.

I moved from Iphone 7 to S10 a couple of months ago, easy peasy and the phone is superb, much more flexible than the Apple device.
Data swapped without a problem, all music, contacts, photos and compatible apps done with no dramas.
Best thing, I can get shut of that damn awful Itunes on my laptop and get some decent streaming apps on the new phone ;)

I have a Canon 12 MP camera which is very good, but it's the carrying it around which concerns me. Going from airline to airline. The max hold luggage on one airline is 20kg with 5 kg hand luggage. Last two airlines is does increase a good bit. So the only thing stopping me taking that is bulk and weight. The iPhone 8 camera is good, but Missis T is having mine if update. So we could both have good cameras.

Tashy, old fruit.

Have you seen or used any device that used Android as it’s operating system?

Are you ok with it?

It doesn’t matter which phone is better if you don’t get on with the operating system.

You are used to IOS (Apple), can you change?

These are the questions I am asking myself. In a nutshell phil. I hardly use most of the features available on my iPhone. This is probably the thickest question on here today. What is android?
I am told the Huwaiii phone has the best camera, but there no way I am supporting a Chinese phone.

Oh Tashy mate , we are technically challenged.

Android is made by Google, it is like Windows is to computers, but it’s for Non Iphone mobiles and non IPad tablets. It’s the operating system that makes everything work.

The Apple operating system is called IOS .

You really need to find a mate with a Samsung phone and get them to show you how it works.

Avoid Huwaii , the US are looking to limit what internet access these phones have for security reasons 😎

So the guy in EE said that any photos you take on the Samsung, you can log into google anywhere in the world and see your photos. 👍

Yes you can, Apple have the same thing, it’s called ICloud.

The important thing is to find out if YOU are happy with how the kit works

Think me son who is in Bali at the moment has a Samsung. Might give him a shout. Am sure a PP has a Samsung but he is as thick as pig muck.

Cheers Phil me man 😘

Tashy, Android is very very similar to IOS imo, it's barely noticeable on the new phones. Only difference I see is you have more buttons on a Samsung/Android phone. Android is now all swipe up, swipe left etc just like IOS.
Honestly mate once you set up the homescreen as you want it you just open and close apps in an identical way.

Martin when I looked at the phone in the shop I could barely see any differance re apps etc. To be honest I had for my head around getting the iPhone XS. Until the manager in the EE shop ( a north east lad) sowed a seed re the Samsung. Talk about turning my head, but bottom line he is only doing his job. Another thing he mentioned is some samsungs 10s are 5G ready but is there extra cost with that.

I've got a Huwawei - camera is far better than Samsung and iPhone.
