More to the point what do you want to ask?

When are the roll ups?
How long as a 5 day?
How does booking t times work?
Are there roll ups on Saturday?
Are there any comps open to 5 day members?

etc.

Have some questions ready, so you have something to talk about.

Also, you need to imply that you will use the club for social as well, as it is a club, not just a course.

My interview was formal but very easily passed through, they basically want you to reassure them that you want to be ther, you arnt a waster and might want to play on a few teams.

Dont forget Stuart, its a business, they want YOUR money. I think in the current climate, you interview them.

:D

Think about what you want from the golf club and find out if they operate to suit those needs.

Mono, are you scouse steve from phone jacker? :D

You need to ask if competitions are drawn or do the same people book times together. If it is the latter it may be hard to break in to get handicap cards and competition entry.

What are the practice facilities like. Can you enter inter-club matches. Can you get a locker. Will you go straight in at 7 day (given the climate)

Right been and had the interview,it was more like a chat with a friend. Its a full 7day membership, comps are drawn and played every sunday then every wednesday come the lighter nights.

They've got a covered range, chipping area, putting green
decent shower facilities. 2 snooker tables sky etc.

The bar is reasonably priced, foods good( tried it last week)
Theres a waiting list for main lockers which i'm not too bothered about.

The only thing is because the club was set up by the jewish community in the 1950's they dont do bacon butties :(
obvious really.

Though i qualify for the colts membership fee of £640 :D which is a little bonus.

Mono- The club is Lee Park GC.

I'm going to Blundells hill on saturday with a mate from work then i will decide for sure which club to join.

Are clubs allowed to have different levels of membership?
Just that it may come across as ageism.

I had a bit of a moan about this, about six weeks ago. I missed out on a membership age category by a year and therefore would have to pay an extra £300 odd!

so you did have to pay an extra £300 because you were older than someone else, that surely has to be illegal?

No chance of it being illegal, its just the same as concesions.

Bet you dont moan at paying junior membership JC.

Bet ademac wouldn't be moaning if he was a year younger either :D

(I am not having ago or being funny, but am sure ya get what a mean in a lighthearted way)

I know what you mean Tony, I quite like the different price brackets. So going from £150 all the way upto £850, is a very big step indeed. Just wandering aloud, thats all.

I don't get the different pricing for ages either.
Students/juniors fair enough, but i looked at a club local to me recently and there brackets were daft (imo) and definitely put me off joining.
There are 3 brackets for men going from 21-24 @ 410, 25-34 @ 656 and 35 up @ 821!!
like i say i get the junior/youth/student brackets but what's with these 3?

I think its outragous. How can they justify it? Sure juniors and the Oldies I don't have a problem with but a 34 year old paying £160+ more than a 35 year old? That has to be against some law doesn't it?

Personally I wouldn't join a club that discriminates against any section - age, sex, creed etc etc.

Stinks of the way Golf used to be.................
