I do like all the pretentious club names like 'Rocketblades'. If you were a golf club maker, what would you name your line of clubs?

Widowmaker. Clubs you ll enjoy so much youre spouse may as well pronounce you as dead.

The 'exactly the same as the previous model but with a slightly different cosmetic design on the back', or to make it sound more exotic 'Deja Vu'

Think I might be getting cynical in my old age.

Haha. Actually the manufacturers are geniuses for constantly reselling metal sticks.

I would go with a 1980's Ford theme:

- Base, Popular, L, GL, Ghia, S
- XR2, XR2i, XR3, XR3i, RS Turbo

And top of the range, Cosworth :)

In the good old days clubs had names like "Pinseeker" and "Parbuster". They were fun.

Mine would be beautiful exotic Japanese forged blades. So would have to be "Katana".

I'd probably go down a similar route that Mizuno have, and just have numbers. Nothing too fancy!

What about Bond Villains...
Blofeld Blades
Largo Player's Cavity
Scaramanga SGI
Gold finger GI
Rosa Kleb......Starter Set

Razzle Putters

Men Only Blades

Fiesta GI irons

Club wedges

and Readers Wivers woods;)

but on a serious not i would have an option to just but heads of clubs if required.

i do not believe in marketing value of product baptism, so i'd stick to the mizuno pattern
did you ever buy a club because of it's name ???

I would combine two popular sports so my clubs would have a footballing theme.
Celtic full set- all made locally to where I live.
Best blades - silky smooth
The Wimbledon - for the golfer who struggles to get the ball airborne

If I were to make clubs I would base them on a theme such as brittania ( for drivers ) British bulldogs ( for irons ) and English heritage for putters. Because you would identify the brand with Britain and hopefully get more support from buyers because they would be ( hopefully ) completely British made.

Great thread!

Drivers - SMAshit (it would have Superior Momentum Abilities) but most would drop the SMA from the name

Irons - I'd call them 'Lady' so you would call them Iron Lady; they hate a good strike

Putters - Your Intelligent Putter or YIP for short

I believe that with the correct amount of marketing claims i.e. our longest irons yet, bring greens closer, fancy terms for the materials used etc... that our company would be a roaring success.

The Chelsea Irons - Loads of history been about for 5 years or so,

The Liverpool Clubs - Really big name back in the 70's, big investment in trying to recapture former glory

The Arsenal clubs - not enough investment to really get to top of the pile

The Man City irons - poured money into them like water but should be money well spent

The Man U irons - lack the quality these days, seem to have lost their way

The Crystal Palace set - better results under new management, should do well across Europe in the next few years (ok I know)

Completly agree with this!

Imagine a set of "Katana" blades with some Japanese script on them. Beautiful!

Great thread btw!

I would go down the name route as it grabs attention and gets people talking if nothing else.

Thought the Nike Sasquatch was a good name so would probably head down the mythical beast route.
