if i could putt i would be a decent player

Wondered when the v-easy was going to get a mention! Its a great bit of kit and I go back to it with a mirror to check my eye position and shoulder alignment every time the putter goes cold these days. I'm holing a lot recently so it must be doing some good

I'm sure you can see the angle is at your hands whereas Luke's is at his elbows.
If your arms are straight down, it will seem a bit wooden without much feel to the swing.
Try keeping your elbows tucked in and lift your hands so there is a straight line from your lower arm into the putter shaft.

Now, let me think what training aid might help you

I cant see totally clearly but your putting grip may be wrong.

As Dave Pelz said, when he worked for NASA - in a rocket there are big boosters to get the rocket into space and small ones to control it when there. Your grip to me looks similar to that you use for a full swing. I.e. it is designed to use the big boosters (muscles)! This would fit with the angles Bob outlined.
So one subtle change to try. Get the shaft/grip of the putter sitting through the middle of the top (wrist end) of your left palm, as opposed to it going through the right side of your left palm.
The angles that Luke has should be easier to achieve and you are taking out the bigger muscles when smaller ones are required.
Everything Bob has said is logical sound advice. I am another fan of the V Easy also!

Yeah I pretty much use the grip like my other clubs. Will try other grips and c if that helps

I guessed so as this is the major cause of the angle being at your wrtists - and thats 100% wrong! You need to take out the big muscles. It will feel like your left hand is more verticle (which will take out the (wrong) wrist angle that Bob referred to) with the grip sitting in the middle of the top of your left hand (between the pads). Then as Bob said tuck in the elbows to create that angle there (and not at your wrists). Then rock your shoulders. Simples!
Its also worth practicing a few chips using your new puting grip. Where there is not much green to work with I use my putting grip as the ball comes off the face much softer. Try this with the toe down (to make the club more upright) at address and use your normal putting stroke.

You need to take out the big muscles.

I'm not sure what you mean by this.
Isn't the idea to NOT use the small muscles (fast twitch) and to only use the big muscles in the shoulders (slow twitch).
That way, the hips don't turn, the wrists don't flick and the putter is controlled only by the rocking shoulders ?

Apologies if I've mis-understood what you meant

I think putting is a matter of confidence once you have a sound basic technique. The best advice above is the quote from Monty about any putt short of 18" past the hole is short. Once you get used to this the most common cause of poor putting, leaving it short, disappears.

At least that is what has worked for me.

Hi having seen the pictures it reminds me of my early putting style, and like you it lacked feel for distance

Main fault i see is your rigid straight arms trying to keep a triangle which is too rigid and hard to judge feel

My tip is feel like you are holding a beach ball between your arms and then while they feel free gradually bring the top of your arms in to gently touch the sides of your chest ( not the front of the chest )

You can either have elbows in or out ( works both ways ) but arms must feel relaxed like they are naturally hanging down from your shoulders vertically down. The beach ball idea allows you to sense the opposite to a rigid feel but you must then bring gently your arms back in as mentioned or it will become too relaxed and wristy.

Next thing is to get your putter checked, length, and style etc etc and you should be good to go

Don't worry, it's not just you.

If you printed the title of this thread on a tee shirt you'd sell millions to golfers around the world!
