Why is it that a relatively new 'premium' brand in golf feels the need to charge prices much greater than those of more established and in my opinion superior brands such as Galvin Green, J Lindeberg etc. I am of course talking about Ian Poulter design clothing and having seen it hit the shops quite recently I can not believe that it is so expensive. Yes it is nice clothing but I will continue to buy brands that I know and trust and are also cheaper until Ian Poulter takes a reality check and realises everything he touches doesn't turn to gold, and his pulling power is not so superior he can mug anyone into wasting money. I do realise some of his clothing is reasonably priced but in terms of like for like products he is definitely over charging, not in my opinion a way to establish his brand.

And as a side note, I like Ian Poulter and think he is a great golfer.

I agree. Had a look at his clothing website recently and laughed at some of the prices. Might suit the well off at Woburn but not cut out for my pocket. I'll stick to more familiar brands at a price I can afford

On the same wavelength...but digressing (slightly?).
Des anyone have a must have label that they won't do without

My missus(SWMBO)buys me ping, ashworth, greg norman, lyle&scott and cotton trader trousers(am I spoiled or what??)

he sure shut up the critics at the ryder cup ! electrifying performances taking some big scalps .... not quite tigers number two though ! haha

Golf shirts are cross, nike, polo ralph lauren or under armor

Jumpers are cutter and buck, j lindeberg, hugo boss and tommy hilfiger

trousers are stromberg and callaway

Thats not to say I won't wear other brands, I buy what looks and feels good.

May be a subject worthy of another thread though- brands we like/ don't like.

Golf shirts are wilson staff and ping
dont wear jumpers but have a few galvin green tank tops
trousers galvin green and ping
wet gear galvin green top and pants a proquip silk touch jacket and some stuburt waterproof trousers

Just bought one of those ping fleeces got to recomend them for 45 notes looks very smart

Anyone wanting budget golf gear can get Dunlop clothing from SortsSoccer/world, or whatever its currently trading under. Dunlop Chinos £7-49.

Though personally I will look in TKMaxx any day of the week for a bargain for the big names.

And anytime I can find Stromberg Trousers anywhere I've looked at a reasonable price I will snap them up in a thrice. And they are quite reasonable any day of the week for the excelent quality you get.

Just looked at the Poulter range & didn't see any problems with the pricing of the IJP stuff, especially if the quality is there, as I'm sure Mr Poulter would insist upon for anything he's put his name to.

Theeaglehunter...SWMBO has just bought me a Cutter&Buck rainproof jacket(this was after I posted)Early Xmas present!
Pretty smart looking and very comfy....but how many jackets can you wear at one time?
Don't get me wrong I love having all the choice but I'm running out of wardrobe space(ha ha)

I generally wear Callaway, Ashworth, Ping and I have a Nike dry top that is great over a base layer, I also wear Maine stuff and trousers from Sainsbury's as they have the stretch bit on either side to help with your swing, but in winter I tend to wear cords under waterproofs.

My local Pro stocks the Poulter gear, its very over priced and not that practical for winter conditions, well as with Ashworth or Callaway I find the best and Ping better for summer gear.

I used to buy plain polo's but find Ashworth shirts very good in production and quality compared to other brands.
