• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

I posted this last year but I think now is the time.

Don't wear badges, don't particularly like baseball caps.

Bag tags are ok

Why reward us forusing the forum. It is for our benefit. I think if anything maybe explore the polo shirt ar other item of clothing for forumers to purchase, not give away.
Instead of 500 members, if people thought they were getting something for nothing there would be 5000.

homer, if you are looking for a qualification for the GM honour how about participation in a GM forum event?

a game organised through the forum, a match against GM HQ, or GM event.

there are loads of qualifiers already and it would encourage a lot more meets.

Thats a good idea viscount but it would be hit or miss for me (if invited) as I never know how Im gonna be any day especially mornings so I have a hell of a job committing to anything that requires a definite commitment to a date and time  no sympathy please its just the way it is. ;)

An interesting idea. Now that htere are a number of bigger events such as England V Scotland, Ascot, Northern meets perhaps we can nominate a set number of events as qualifiers.

I muted last year when we talked about a single GM meet that regional events may be easier to arrange. If we had the bigger ones as qualifiers with say the top 3 from England V Scotland the Ascot winner and a couple more from around the country (a maximum of say 8 winners - 2 fourballs) perhaps they could be invited to a GM corporate day somewhere or GM hosting a one off game somewhere for featuring in the mag.

The only proviso's I can think of is that everyon would be limited to the number of qualifying rounds they could play, it would have to be open to everyone so there would need to be more events around the UK that people could get to and that the main event would have to be somewhere people could also get to.

I'm writing this off the cuff so not even sure if the idea has wings and obviosly would need GM input and the edges smoothed out.

I don't agree with having to qualify for a GM honour by playing a number of meets, one should be enough as not everyone has the same freedom.

don't quite get this. what would you be qualifying for, the GM event?
I suspect that if there were to be a GM event it would have to be open to readers as well (of course, in order for them to find out where these meets were, and to enter, they would need to join the forum!)
